Melissa McCarthy Reveals She Was Never Asked To Join ‘Gilmore Girls’ Reboot
It is now official that a Gilmore Girls reboot is happening, and everyone wants to know why Melissa McCarthy is not going to be part of it. Sookie St. James was a huge part of the show and it going on without Melissa McCarthy is just not going to be the same. E! Online shared the news that Melissa is now speaking out and saying that they didn’t even ask her to be part of the show. Why would that happen?

Everyone has been going to Melissa McCarthy’s Twitter and asking her why she isn’t joining the show and telling her how bad they want her to be on it. Melissa’s response has everyone talking and wondering what is going on.

This is all very confusing right now, though, because Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is telling a totally different story with her side of it. Amy is making it sound like they invited Melissa McCarthy and she couldn’t be a part of the show. Here is what Melissa had to say about it.
“She’s really f–king busy. But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”
So now there is a lot of confusion about who is telling the truth. Maybe Melissa McCarthy’s team was contacted and she never heard about it. Gilmore Girls will be back for four episodes that will each be about 90 minutes long. It doesn’t look like there is any way that Melissa McCarthy will be on the show.

TV Line shared the details about what creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said and she really did make it sound like the ball was in Melissa McCarthy’s court and it would be totally up to her if she made a return to the show. Now Melissa is throwing out shade and saying that they never even asked her at all. This does remind a lot of people of when Fuller House was revealed and nobody could decide of the Olsen twins were really invited to be on the show or not. She went on to share more.
“It was a character we knew we could not count on in terms of story, because [Melissa] just simply wouldn’t have that sort of time to carve out for us. It simply would’ve been impossible. Planning around her crazypants schedule and her movies and her this and her that and Ghostbusters… I would just be sobbing in a corner for six months. That would be my whole life. But if her people called me up and said she’s free on these particular days or would love to drop by and just be in one scene, we would put her right in.”
Hopefully, these two will find a way to figure it all out soon though. Melissa McCarthy’s fans would love to see her return to the new Gilmore Girls reboot.
