NFL Star Adrian Peterson Insists He’s 200% Innocent

Last week NFL star Adrian Peterson was arrested outside of a Houston nightclub where he allegedly shoved a police officer, a charge for which he says “I’m 200% innocent.”

The Minnesota Vikings star running back was speaking inside a Houston courthouse on Friday when he told reporters:

“I didn’t push, shove, touch anything or anyone, especially an officer.”

Adrian Peterson than added:

“I definitely don’t have a problem with the Houston PD. This involves two individual officers that I have an issue with. Once everything is settled, the truth will come out.”

The statement by Adrian Peterson was made during his arraignment which has now been postponed until August. Along with his assault & battery charge Peterson has been charged with resisting arrest.

When asked if the incident was a simple case of too much alcohol consumption which got out of hand Peterson said, “Yeah, pretty much.”

In the meantime Adrian Peterson’s lawyer claims that there was no off-duty officer involved in the arrest and that all officers were uniformed at the time of the incident.

Peterson was briefly jailed following the incident but was quickly released on $1,000 bond.

The lawsuit could prove a distraction for Peterson as the Minnesota Vikings begin training camp on June 27. Last season Peterson ran for 970 yards and 12 touchdowns before tearing the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee on Dec. 24.

Before his injury Adrian Peterson had run for at least 1,200 yards in four straight NFL seasons.
