‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Comes To LEGO This June As Game Debuts This Summer

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be coming to LEGO this summer because of a deal made among Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group, and Lucasfilm. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a return to the number one video game franchise, and it allows gamers who are fans of LEGOs and the Star Wars franchise to interact with both in a fun way.

Coming Soon said that the new game will be released on June 28, 2016, and it will introduce new game play mechanics that allow players to fly through the universe in all new ways. It will also explore the time between The Return of the Jedi, the sixth episode in the Star Wars franchise, and the current installment, The Force Awakens. The new game was created by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games and will be available in multiple formats: PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita, Xbox One and 360, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. For those who own XBox One or PlayStation 4, the new game will also be available through subscription.

Tom Stone, Managing Director of TT Games, said that his company was proud of the Star Wars games it had created.

“We’re extremely proud of the LEGO Star Wars videogames, truly an incredible franchise that has sold more than 33 million copies and helped ignite a passion for numerous fun-filled LEGO games enjoyed by countless gamers around the world,” said Stone. “LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be pushing the series forward with innovative new gameplay mechanics, while also exploring new parts of the universe that are sure to excite and delight both LEGO and Star Wars fans, as well as newcomers to our games.”

As previously reported in Inquisitr, Electronic Arts (EA) released Star Wars: Battlefront, a multiplayer shooter game that features the old Star Wars characters in some new places in the Star Wars universe. It pits such characters as Darth Vader against Han Solo, pairings that players won’t get to see in the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens game. Like Star Wars: Battlefront, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is also expected to be a hit among players, and it will provide fun for a younger crowd that Battlefront cannot as some of the scenes with Vader are violent.

The Independent UK reported the release date of the official trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Sony posted the trailer online, and it appears to be real. A store listing also appeared in the XBox store for the new game, and it said the following.

“In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The listing also gave the official release date for the game as June 28, 2016, which means that the game will probably appear in the United Kingdom some time around July 1. The last game to be released in the series appeared in 2011, and it was called Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. Fans of both the Star Wars franchise and the LEGO games will no doubt be delighted with the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens since it has been over five years since the release of the last game. It is also a chance to interact with the latest characters and stories in the Star Wars universe.
