Have Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik broken up? The lovers looked very together in Zayn’s “Pillowtalk” video, but new reports suggest that the supermodel stunner and the ex-boyband heartthrob may have called time on their budding romance, or at least downgraded it to “friends with benefits.”

They may still be engaging in public PDAs, according to Just Jared, but it seems Zayn considers Gigi merely a “good friend.”

Vanity Fair reports that Malik surprised interviewer Zane Lowe when he branded their relationship with the unromantic tag.

[W]hen Lowe said that Malik was “in a relationship,” the 23-year-old said, “Yeah, good friends, yeah.”

The “friends” statement came as a surprise because it followed several reports that Zayn and Gigi were house-hunting together, notably one by The Mirror. The supermodel apparently told her friends she is thrilled to be with Zayn because he’s more exciting than any other guy she’s dated, according to Hollywood Life.

Could Zayn have recently dealt the supermodel a less-pleasant surprise by downgrading her and refusing to acknowledge her as his serious beau?

“Friend” is also a favourite word of Justin Bieber’s for his pretty hookups, usually rolled out a short time before the Biebs shows his fling the door.

Interestingly, beautiful Kendall Jenner, who also reportedly got the “we’re not official” run-around from Harry Styles in recent days, jumped onto social media to defend Gigi and reassure her friend that she will always be lovingly welcomed back into the bosom of KenGi, as reported by Teen Vogue.

Your best friend has a number of essential jobs: Telling you when an outfit doesn’t work on you, putting only the cutest pictures of you on her Instagram, and most importantly of all, coming to your rescue when your dude acts shady.

Today, Zayn Malik did an interview in which he said that he and Gigi Hadid are “good friends.”Not that we know them, but the way they’ve been behaving lately — hand-holding, clothes swapping, possible apartment hunting — leads us to believe things are at least somewhat serious. Zayn is Gigi’s lockscreen, for goodness sakes. Does that mean nothing anymore?!

Rumored lesbian Kendall claimed Gigi as her own, stating that she is in a relationship with her Victoria’s Secret pal.

Earlier this year, Kendall, too, turned to good friends in the face of adversity. A photograph of sassy Cara Delevingne, with whom Kendall is rumored to be in love, appeared on Kendall’s instagram soon after Kendall’s short-lived New Year’s fling with Harry fizzled.

It looks like Kendall turned to her blue-eyed pal Cara in difficult times, and now that Gigi is free of Zayn’s grip, she too will draw sustenance at the pert teet of CaKenGi.

Maybe Cara and Kendall will even invite Gigi to participate in their rumored joint fashion line, reported by Sugarscape.

Cara and Kendall are said to be “secretly confident” that the CaKe line will do well, and what better way to boost their luck than to add a third supermodel pal?

In other Zayn news, the Bradford bad boy and ex-One Direction star has apparently pulled out of a BBC1 radio interview with Greg James just half an hour before he was due to go on air, according to the Daily Mail.

This is the second interview Zayn has pulled out of recently. Malik was due to appear on the Graham Norton show last week, but cancelled at the last minute.

It hasn’t stopped fans from lapping up the single, though — Mirror is reporting that “Pillowtalk” is number one globally on Spotify.
