The first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 called “Awakening” is officially set for release early this week. Activision announced that it will arrive Tuesday, February 2, and will be available first exclusively for PlayStation 4.

According to COD publisher’s official blog site, “Awakening” DLC, will bring back The Replacer, portrayed by Peter Stormare. Describing The Replacer, SegmentNext‘s post read the following.

“Peter Stormare reprises his role as The Replacer in the latest ‘Call of Duty Black Ops 3: The Awakening’ DLC trailer. He is offering you a chance to leave your day-today worries behind and answer to your Call of Duty. He takes care of business while you take care of business in COD.”

Specifically, the Call of Duty patch with the Awakening DLC will be available around the middle of the day, Pacific time, on the aforementioned release date. Activision said that the DLC launch schedule for the Xbox One and PC will be revealed soon.

A previous Inquisitr report explained that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC will also feature four new multiplayer maps called Gauntlet, Rise, Skyjacked, and Splash. The design for each map, according to Cinema Blend, “will enhance the combat style present in Call of Duty.” Every location was formed with “differing level of craft and creativity.”

Citing GameSpot, Splash is a deserted waterpark while Rise is a construction area set in Zurich. Gauntlet is “set in a military facility with three very different areas,” as described on the post. Skyjacked, one of the four new locations coming upon COD Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC’s release, is a flying airship created as a reimagined version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Hijacked.

In addition to these new game maps, Awakening DLC will also feature the first chapter for another Zombies story. “Der Eisendrache” is set during World War II “in a medieval Austrian castle,” starring Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo, and Dempsey, according to a previous Cinema Blend report.

Game developer Treyarch held a Double XP event for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 this weekend. It commenced Jan. 29 and will end this Monday, February 1 at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST, a report from Gamespot noted.

To download the patch, Activision’s instructions simply said that users need to open “Call of Duty: Black Ops III to trigger the patch and allow the game to update as normal.” After downloading the update, Season Pass owners and players who bought the “Awakening” DLC pack needs to activate the content via the in-game store. The step-by-step guide is provided in the Activision post. Immediate access to the four new maps and Zombie story will be available upon activation of the expansion pack.
