WWE News: Samoa Joe And Shinsuke Nakamura May Be Main Roster Bound, But Austin Aries Won’t Be

WWE NXT was the hottest topic to discuss in 2015. Whether it was the amazing programs with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, or the terrific rise of people like Finn Balor, it was always fun to see what they would do next. They kept killing it with the ladies, as well. Fans were treated to two of the greatest female matches in WWE history with Sasha Banks and Bayley. Then, the tag scene only continued to impress with the likes of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan to the Dawson and Wilder.

Really, how could anyone ask for more as a wrestling fan than what NXT provides? Add Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura to the fun and it just makes fans want to weep tears of joy. Aries managed to show up at the last set of television tapings for NXT. He met with WWE at the end of 2015 and most assumed he spoke with them about a contract. It was a good assumption, as Aries has now signed to join a roster filled with great, young talent.

Shinsuke Nakamura is still in Japan and should be done with New Japan Pro-Wrestling today as his last match should have wrapped up with the company. He is expected to be with WWE by the end of the month and will train to learn the WWE style before having his first WWE sanctioned match at WWE NXT Takeover: Dallas in April.

WWE decided to have him work with Sami Zayn, which was a great idea for most fans as the match sells itself. The other reason for it is because Zayn knows how to work the Japanese Strong Style that Nakamura utilizes, so he will know what to do with him and how to take certain moves. It is probably a good idea to have him work with people like this early on, then he can be prepared to go to the main roster in a few months.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE is planning to have Nakamura work on learning the WWE style. Then, once they feel he has a good grasp on things, he will hit the main roster. This means he’ll probably be working with the main roster by the summer.

Samoa Joe is expected to hit the main roster at some point this year, as well. Word has it that WWE has been impressed with Samoa Joe since his arrival and they feel he has done enough to earn a main roster run. The original thought was that he would come to NXT and work with them, as well as work some independent dates. He now seems to just be working the NXT matches and is most likely going to be part of the NXT tour this year, even if he goes to the main roster.

One idea being thrown out is to have him make his surprise debut on the WWE RAW following WrestleMania 32.

Meanwhile, Austin Aries is set to be exclusive to NXT. Right now, WWE does not know what they have with Aries and the thought is that he can at least be a huge help to them on the big touring they plan to do with NXT starting this year. They plan to ramp it up more next year, so he’ll easily be an asset to have on the road for NXT, if nothing else.

Samoa Joe was supposed to come in for mostly the same idea. If he can earn a main roster spot, there is a good chance Austin Aries can do the same. Shinsuke Nakamura will be an interesting wildcard in all of this. We all know he is main roster bound, but it will be interesting to see how long WWE will keep him in the NXT area. He will be a huge help to NXT, but with WWE needing him on the main roster due to injuries, it can be assumed Triple H won’t have the luxury of keeping him down in NXT all to himself for very long.
