Fans Demand Snoop Dogg Narrate ‘Planet Earth’ — Thousands Sign Petition For Rapper To Host Documentary Series

Snoop Dogg has become a fixture on Jimmy Kimmel Live with his recurring segment “Plizzanet Earth.” Snoop’s hilarious spoof of the Animal Planet show has become so popular that the rapper’s fans want him to land a spot narrating a whole season of the real Planet Earth. According to Billboard, Kelly Ooton started a petition on Change.org that currently has more than 38,000 signatures, demanding that Planet Earth recruits Snoop Dogg to narrate a season.

In a huge development for those pushing to get Snoop enlisted as narrator on Planet Earth, Snoop himself seems to be behind the movement. The Long Beach rapper saw the Planet Earth petition as reported by Time and showed his approval of the movement to get him a role on the Animal Planet show by retweeting the post. In a re-post of the now-viral request for Snoop to narrate the show, the rapper tweeted, “who made this?? lets get this s**t going. who want more ?!”

Support for Snoop Dogg to narrate Planet Earth continues to grow. Ooton pointed out in the petition, “Snoop Dogg has narrated some Planet Earth in the past but yo we need him to narrate full episodes. Sign the petition if you agree.” It seems that a whole lot of Snoop Dogg fans agree that they want the rapper featured on the hit documentary. Do you think Animal Planet will listen to at least 38,000 Snoop fans who want to hear his famous voice narrate the documentary series?

So far, there has been no response from Animal Planet about the possibility of Snoop Dogg getting to narrate an entire season or even an entire episode. Currently, the Planet Earth series is narrated by the very familiar voice of Sir David Attenborough. The British broadcaster is just a few months shy of 90 years old and may want to retire from narrating the popular series.

When looking into who might succeed Sir David Attenborough, there are several names who may come to mind. There are plenty of celebrities with very distinctive voices who would be interested in narrating the nature documentary. NME suggested Ben Fogle, Chris Packham, or Bill Oddie as likely successors to Sir David Attenborough. Let us suggest Morgan Freeman or maybe do an HBO version narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. Or why not Snoop Dogg? The rapper is already interested in the series, has a wildly popular parody titled “Plizzanet Earth” with its own following, and has appeared on segments of Planet Earth already. Not to mention that Snoop is actually interested in doing the project.

Getting Snoop Dogg on board for a season, or even for multiple seasons, of Planet Earth would be different and fun. It would attract a whole new fanbase to the BBC-turned-Animal Planet hit. Support for the possible new role for Snoop is growing fast, and the petition literally doubled from 16,000 to 32,000 signatures overnight and is now pushing 38,000 fans who want the rapper’s famous voice on their beloved show.

Whether or not Snoop gets to voice a season of the real Planet Earth, one thing is pretty clear: people want more Snoop Dogg and they want to hear what he has to say about animals and nature.
