‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 5 Spoilers: New Set Photos Show Off Returns And More

The Once Upon a Time cast is still busy filming episodes for the second half of Once Upon A Time Season 5, and the cast is getting closer to the end of the season. Fans will have a lot more episodes to watch before the season ends in May though.

The cast was working on filming Once Upon a Time Season 5 Episode 18 this week, and Adam Horowitz shared the first page of the script to tease fans for the series’ March return. The episode is titled “Ruby Slippers.”

That title does give away that the episode will feature Oz and Zelena, and fans will see a grown-up and ready to fight Dorothy Gale on the episode. Photos from the Once Upon a Time set show off Teri Reeves as new adult Dorothy. Fans of Chicago Fire will recognize her from early seasons of that series. She appeared as Casey’s girlfriend until she died on the series.

The photos from the set, shared by Spoiler TV, show more than just Reeves though. The Ruby in the title will also stand for Ruby, who is played by Meghan Ory. She returned to Once Upon a Time earlier this season, and she made a connection with Mulan. That character, who is played by Jamie Chung, will also return to the series for the episode.

A connection of more than friendship was teased for the pair during their last appearance together, so fans will likely learn more about that during their return. Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased that fans would see an LGBT relationship on the series this season, but that did not happen during the first half of Once Upon a Time Season 5.

Christian Today did tease a bit more about Dorothy’s return. Fans will see a more “fearless” Dorothy who is ready to take down Zelena. Regina sent her sister back to Oz during the winter finale of the series.

Zelena will make her way to the Underworld though. Rebecca Mader has popped up already in recent set photos from the series. She was seen chatting with Hades, who is played by Greg Germann on the series.

What does that mean about Dorothy popping up in this episode? Is “Ruby Slippers” a flashback episode that will show how Zelena went from Oz to the Underworld? Ruby and Mulan are dressed in their normal Enchanted Forest attire, so they are likely still out of the Underworld.

There is really no way to be sure though. Once Upon A Time is known for its twists and turns, and it does play loosely with time. That has been a part of the series since the beginning. Fans go back and forth in time with the characters each and every week.

The cast is just as excited about the journey to the Underworld. Lana Parrilla shared her excitement for the second half of Once Upon a Time Season 5 with E! News. She spoke about the series with the news outlet at a recent appearance.

“We’re taking everyone to the underworld. So, we’re basically entering hell, which is really exciting because there are a lot of characters who have died on the show that are going to make an appearance in the second half of the season.”

Fans already know Cora, Peter Pan, and Rumpelstiltskin’s former wife will pop up, but Sidney Glass will also pop up in the Underworld.

From the new set photos, it is clear that fans can expect more twists and turns when the series returns in March. Who would you like to see return during Once Upon a Time Season 5?
