Jana Duggar and her love life are rumored to be the focus of the new 19 Kids and Counting reboot. According to the Hollywood Gossip, TLC was thrilled with the public’s reception of Jana, and the views of Jill & Jessa: Counting On were strong enough to merit bringing the Duggar family back to television.
After canceling 19 Kids and Counting following revelations that Josh Duggar molested five underage girls when he was a teenager, TLC still did not cut off ties with the Duggar family. In fact, it seems the drama surrounding the Duggar family has made the network’s ties with the infamous conservative Christian clan even stronger, since TLC was able to spin the scandals into a three-part series focusing on two of Josh Duggar’s victims, his sisters Jill and Jessa Duggar.
During a press meeting in Pasadena, California, TLC was asked about how they handled the Duggar family scandals. A network executive confirmed that TLC felt it handled the situation well, explaining that “[e]very decision we’ve made has been done very thoughtfully and very carefully about what is in the best interests of the people involved and the network.”
At the time, the executive confirmed that the network’s “first priority is making sure that there’s a health and well-being of our families first and foremost,” and with regard to the controversial scandals, TLC “feature[s] stories of different families with real people and real things happen.” The network also explained they reached out to rape counseling services to figure out how to best handle the situation at the time.
In Jill And Jessa: Counting On, Jana and Jinger Duggar also made an appearance, giving on-camera interviews about how they’ve coped with life since realizing their brother is not who he appeared to be. During tearful confessions, Jana and Jinger confessed that their first thoughts upon learning their brother cheated on his wife were for their sister-in-law Anna.
Since the scandals broke, Anna has been spending more time with Jana than ever before, since she’s reportedly been living with her in-laws, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
Recently, according to the Facebook group “Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray,” Jana was spotted with some of her sisters at a local Springdale, Arkansas, lumber yard, along with a film crew. The sighting immediately sparked rumors that the Duggar family will soon be back on the air.
It seems those rumors are true, and TLC is planning a 19 Kids and Counting reboot, perhaps giving the new series a different name but with the same cast of characters.
According to the Hollywood Gossip, a production insider revealed that the series will reveal how 26-year-old Jana still is not married and her feelings about “being single while her younger sisters are getting married and starting families.” A source revealed that one scene in the series will include the lumberyard where Jana was being filmed. According to the owner of the lumberyard, “John David sent over a list of things they needed to build a tree house.”
The owner also explained that Duggar “wanted to make sure we have the stuff. We got it all together. Jana was really the one in charge. We asked her if she needed 4* grooves or 8″ grooves and she knew the answer.”
Indeed, it seems Jana “was the one giving all the instructions.”
To add fuel to the gossip mill, Jana, Jinger, and Anna Duggar were also recently spotted at a thrift store and shopping while being filmed by a camera crew. The Duggar Family Official Facebook page also confirmed Jana and her sisters were shopping, sharing a photo of the moment.
“Fun girls shopping day! #sisters,” the photo was captioned.
Interestingly enough, if Anna was with Jana while being filmed, fans are starting to wonder if that means Josh Duggar will make an appearance on the new series.
