‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Jan. 29, A Wild Thunderlord Appears

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, has returned to the Destiny Tower with a collection of Exotic armor and weapons that have not been sold in a while. PlayStation and Xbox players shouldn’t expect to be blown away by the offerings this week, but there is the return of Thunderlord to consider.

Xûr can be found in the very back of the bar located underneath Future War Cult in the hangar this weekend. It’s a long jog, but easy to find. Just turn left when you enter the hanger, go down the stairs to the left, and then straight back. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map just to be sure, though.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, January 3. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT.

Thunderlord

Thunderlord is a beast of a machine gun in Destiny PVE scenarios thanks to its high stability, large clip, and perks. It’s a go-to weapon in Nightfall and Weekly Heroic Strikes that use Arc burn, and it comes with a hidden perk that occasionally causes enemies to explode with Arc damage on kills. It’s also a solid weapon to use in Crucible due to the high impact rounds.

Empyrean Bellicose

Aside from being a cool-looking Titan helmet in Destiny, Empyrean Bellicose has a deceptively beneficial suite of perks, even if it may not be a top-tier piece. The main perk, “Antigrav Thrusters,” allows Titans to hover in the air while aiming. The other half of that perk gives a melee recharge when picking up Orbs of Light, which synergizes well with the different Titan subclass melee abilities.

The random perk rolls give “Hands On” and “Heavy Lifting” in the third column for more Super Energy from melee and Heavy Weapon kills against minions. “Infusion” for health regeneration on Orb pickup is the final column perk.

The split 47 Intellect/45 Discipline stat roll is average. Destiny players picking this up will want to consider re-rolling with Glass Needles to get “Inverse Shadow” combined with either “Better Already” or “Infusion” in the third column.

Skyburners Annex

The Skyburners Annex helm will turn Hunters into every Destiny player’s best friend. The intrinsic “Versatile Shooter” perk generates extra Orbs of Light with a chance to receive extra Special Weapon ammo when picking up Orbs. The Nightstalker subclass is already a prolific Orbs of Light generator and there’s a chance to create up to 50 percent more with this helmet on.

The optional perks are “Hands On” for extra Super energy from melee kills and “Heavy Lifting” for extra Super energy from Heavy Weapon kills. There is also the “Infusion” perk for health regeneration on Orb pickup.

The 49 Intellect/51 Strength is solid for the Skyburners Annex. Destiny players will only need to use Glass Needles to shoot for “Inverse Shadow” in the third column along with “Infusion” in the final column.

Alchemist’s Raiment

This chest piece will definitely make Warlocks the best dressed Destiny Guardians in any activity. Additionally, the intrinsic “Iron to Gold” perk gives Glimmer when picking up Primary Weapon ammo and gives bonus Grenade and Melee energy when picking up Orbs of Light while the Super energy bar is full.

The optional perks roll well for Stormcallers. In addition to the optional perk that grans more Special or Heavy ammo, it also comes with the choice between “Arc Burn Defense” and “Arc Armor.”

Alchemists’s Raiment is a neutral piece but best fits the Sunsinger and Stormcaller. However, Destiny players have discovered the “Iron to Gold” perk does not drop Glimmer at a particularly steady rate. Still, the 95 Intellect is a nice boost for those in need of more Super energy regeneration.
