Kim Richards’ Sisters Will Reunite At Monty Brinson’s Funeral

Kim Richards’ ex-husband, Monty Brinson, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with cancer, and now, she and her family are preparing for his funeral.

Although The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ currently-airing sixth season has shown fans an inside look at the troubled feud between the Richards and Hilton family, Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton will reportedly put their differences aside as they support Kim Richards through what is sure to be a difficult memorial service.

“The funeral for Monty is going to be held this weekend, with only immediate friends and family in attendance,” a source revealed to Radar Online on January 28. “[Kim Richards] has been extremely upset and just can’t believe that her best friend is gone. Kathy and Rick have been taking care of all the arrangements.”

Although Kim Richards and her former husband, Brinson, were married for just three years in the 80s, they share a child together, daughter Brooke Brinson-Weiderhorn, and have been very close friends in the years since their split. In fact, as fans may recall from episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim Richards was living with Brinson in the years before he died, and throughout her 2015 struggles, which included two arrests, Brinson was very supportive, and always spoke highly of her on social media and to the press.

“Kyle is planning on going to the funeral, and it will be the first time in months that all three sisters have been together,” the Radar Online source continued. “The drama between Kyle and Kathy will be set aside for the day, as they focus on celebrating Monty’s life. Supporting [Kim Richards] during this difficult time is bringing the family together.”

During The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 6, Kim Richards has been absent thus far. However, her family drama took center stage during the first several episodes of the show. While chatting on the phone with Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle revealed her older half-sister, Kathy Hilton, had advised her against attending the wedding of her daughter, Nicky Hilton, who wed James Rothschild in July of last year. Although Kyle eventually attended the ceremony, in which her young daughter, Portia Umansky, served as the flower girl, her husband, Mauricio, and their two oldest daughters were left off the guest list.

When the Bravo reality series first began, Kim Richards’ feud with her sister, Kyle, was often spotlighted due to her issues with substance abuse, and while the two women have gotten along at times, their relationship appeared to be further strained during season 5 because of Kim Richards’ closeness with Brandi Glanville, who didn’t like Kyle, and suggested Kim Richards stop talking to her for a while.

According to Glanville, if Kim Richards cut her sister out of her life, she would learn to respect her more.

After The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ dramatic fifth season came to an end, Kim Richards’ life took a turn for the worse. As she remained estranged from sister Kyle, she suffered an alcohol relapse, and was later arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where she was charged with crimes, including public intoxication, resisting an officer, trespassing and battery on an officer. Then, just months later, Kim Richards was arrested for a second time after she allegedly stole more than $600 worth of items from a Target in Van Nuys, California.
