Darth Vader To Get Considerably More Brutal As Details Revealed About ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’

Although Darth Vader was killed at the end of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, he will make a new appearance in the next Star Wars movie, Rogue One. The latest installment in the Star Wars saga will avoid the computer trickery of previous movies, and this time Darth Vader will do more of what he does best: crush rebel scum.

The Independent UK reported the scoop on the latest movie offered by Making Star Wars.

“The action sequences filmed are unknown, but there was work pitching the different ways Darth Vader could kill rebels on a battlefield with the Force and his lightsaber. The storyboard ‘pitches’ showed decapitated rebels, people being dismembered by Vader throwing his sword, levitating bodies to make human shields, and so on. The art was more violent than what we’ve seen Darth Vader do on screen before.”

Since Star Wars: Rogue One is a prequel and part of the anthology series being released by Disney, it takes place shortly before the fourth installment A New Hope. The plot of the movie centers on the rebels attempting to steal the plans for the Empire’s latest weapon, the Death Star. Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, the director of Godzilla and will bridge the gap between The Force Awakens and the premiere of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, there have been many rumors about Star Wars: Episode VIII even before Star Wars: The Force Awakens even premiered. One of the biggest rumors is that Hayden Christensen will return to reprise his role as Darth Vader. Although it is unclear how Darth Vader will present himself in Episode VIII, or what his role is, the fact that Vader is already dead makes for some interesting possibilities for future story lines.

Slash Film reported new details on Darth Vader’s role in Rogue One as Alan Tudyk and Donny Yen spoke out on the new movie. One of the biggest rumors is the part that Darth Vader will play in the story line. Some have speculated that the role will be much larger than expected.

Other rumors to hit the rumor mill include new Storm Troopers called Death Troopers who wear black armor and are probably up to no good. There is the possibility that there will be a new droid character, played by Alan Tudyk, that may be a scene stealer. According to the potential story line, this droid may be an Imperial droid that changes loyalties. This is expected to be the darkest and harshest Star Wars ever with the introduction of the Death Troopers. Yen’s role in the movie has yet to be determined.

Although the original Star Wars trilogy showcased Darth Vader’s skills, this story is a chance to see more of the skills demonstrated by Vader in his earlier career. As a younger Darth Vader it’s possible that he did more fighting and he might display skills not previously seen in the original trilogy.

Alan Tudyk spoke to Comic Book Resources about the story line.

“It’s amazing. Going to work — even though it’s difficult, you always hear that, film acting, there are moments where’s it’s very cold and you have to where something that isn’t necessarily warm, and 12 hours days or more. But when you’re doing ‘Star Wars’ you’re looking around at all the magic that’s around you. And it sparks the kid in you, it immediately goes away. Or at least within an hour or two. At least around lunch it’ll go away.”

Whatever Darth Vader’s role in the new movie, it promises to be action packed if the Star Wars: The Force Awakens is any indication. Rogue One is the first in a series of anthology films that will fill in the blanks on Star Wars characters like Darth Vader and Han Solo.
