Man Who Said Cops Would Kill Him Is Found Stabbed And Burned

A Fresno man who was found stabbed to death inside his burning home predicted his death days earlier on a Facebook post and named local police as his attackers.

Neighbors spotted smoke coming from John Lang’s house around 3 p.m. Wednesday and called 911. When firefighters arrived, they had to force their way in past a heavily secured gate. They found Lang’s body with several stab wounds and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to ABC News.

Days before the attack, Lang posted to Facebook several times, saying his life was in danger from the Fresno Police Department — he also attempted to contact local media.

A video posted to Facebook shows a suspicious van parked near his house. A man gets out of the van and walks up to Lang’s gate, and then returns and has a conversation with the driver, according to the Free Thought Project.

“If I turn up missing or dead tomorrow remember this Van. I think I seen a couple of guys sneak out the side door and into the building when it was parked in the carport this afternoon. I’ve been causing the City of Fresno a lot of problems recently which I now regret.”

Then he wrote an open letter to the FBI and DOJ on his blog, complaining Fresno police were going to try and frame him for a crime he didn’t commit.

“I am fairly certain that Fresno Law Enforcement is trying to set me up on some type a charge related to child pornography.”

Lang wrote that there was an ongoing conspiracy to plant evidence and frame him.

“And with this letter I have for certain signed my death warrant.”

Three days later, he was dead.

Investigators are calling Lang’s death suspicious, saying the house was set on fire intentionally, possibly to cover up the murder.

Lang’s neighbors told ABC News they were suspicious about the fire also.

“He just got those lights fixed and the gate is locked so I’m not sure how anyone would have got in even, but it’s kind of scary.”

John Lang was a self-styled activist who raised accused the city of Fresno and the Fresno Police Department of several wrongdoings over the years, but others said he was just being paranoid.

Using his blog and YouTube channel, Lang accused the Fresno police of illegally targeting minorities and the disadvantaged in a license plate scam, and he spoke out against the mayor in several Fresno Bee op-eds. He also accused the Bee of collaborating with the police to harass users who posted negative comments about law enforcement.

Lang made several posts where accused Fresno law enforcement of tailing him, tracking his movements and tapping his and his family’s phones.

Lang requested an Internal Affairs investigation, which he says only upset the law enforcement community more. It’s unclear whether his complaint was taken seriously.

John’s death has sparked a massive outcry on the internet, with several media organizations and private individuals calling for an investigation, including the hacker group Anonymous.

A police spokesman said the incident is under investigation, but law enforcement has no leads at this time and they’re asking for the public’s help in solving this crime.

What do you think? Was John Lang’s death caused by law enforcement or was he the victim of a criminal attack?
