‘Duck Dynasty’ Political Split, Phil And Willie Robertson Shake Things Up With Differing Endorsements

There may be trouble in duck paradise, at least when it comes to the political side of things. Duck Dynasty stars Phil and Willie Robertson have made their choices on who has their full support in the Republican GOP. However, they are not about to let their differences get in between them, not even politics.

As seen on Fox News Insider, the two men sat down via satellite with Sean Hannity to explain why they decided to go against each other in their endorsements. Willie has personally chosen to back the outspoken Donald Trump. The Duck Commander announced his decision at the Outdoor Sportsman Awards Show in Las Vegas last week. He seems to share the fact that Trump wants to “make America great again.”

Being that he is a businessman himself, the younger Robertson told Hannity that he loves the fact that Donald Trump has been highly successful in his businesses and he considers that as an advantage. Willie also said that things need to be shaken up, and Trump is the man to do just that.

“I want somebody in there who can shake it up, who can change it up, who are not after the money. I think [Trump] is the man for the job. He’s run a business and I think, you know, so many people come in and they’ve never run a business, they don’t know what they’re doing when they get there.”

His father, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson, had sent his message loud and clear in a video posted a week earlier that he was endorsing Trump’s rival, Senator Ted Cruz. His reasoning for getting behind this presidential hopeful is that he believes that Cruz stands for Americans and for God. Phil explained to Hannity that he took a look at what James Madison wrote in the Constitution about it being written for a moral and religious people.

“So I just looked at Cruz. He stood out in my mind as being a moral and religious man. I thought to myself, ‘Good enough for me.’ It’s about that simple on my part.”

Willie mentioned that since the Constitution was written, he believes that the American system is now broken and that he doesn’t want the same old politician in there to do the same thing as every other politician. He wants someone in there who will “put their money where their mouth is.” He wants to see some action taken, and he believes that Trump is the man for the job.

While these Duck Dynasty stars don’t always agree on certain things, they always seem to respect each other. The same goes for who they are hoping will be on the 2016 Republican ticket. However, one thing that Phil made clear in the interview was that he can accept the fact that his son is backing Trump, but what would be even worse is if he would have chosen to endorse Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

“Think about the alternative here: Hillary Clinton? Bernie Sanders?”

When it came right down to it, Phil chose the one who he thought was the Godliest out of all of them. The head of the duck-calling dynasty made it a point to say that he does not dislike Donald Trump at all, or his sons. Phil said that if Ted Cruz loses out and Donald gets the Republican nomination, then he will fully support him at that point.

The Robertson family has no bad feelings at all towards the Trumps. In fact, Donald Jr. spent time recently at their Louisiana home, and he went duck hunting with Jase Robertson. Phil even said that the “Trump kid” was a better shot than Ted Cruz. Will that persuade Jase to give daddy Trump his vote? That remains to be seen, but being a good shot is huge in the Robertson family.

Are you surprised that the Duck Dynasty clan is divided on who they are endorsing?
