Kim Kardashian is hoping to drop some serious weight after the birth of her son, Saint West. The reality star is using the Atkins Diet to lose 40 more pounds.
The 35-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star announced on Twitter earlier this week that she was making big lifestyle changes.
“I’m so excited! I’m 30 lbs down today but 40 to go! I’m so focused. I will show u guys my workouts on my app & share my Atkins plan too! I gained 60lbs during my pregnancy but have been an extra 10 lbs up for the last few years so it’s time to really get to my goal.”
Kim then added, “Teaming up w/ @AtkinsInsider because it works for me! So much variety on #Atkins40 and Harvest Trail Bars = YUM.”
She also revealed that she gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy, and an extra 10 pounds over the past few years, which is motivating her to get back to her target weight. The TV personality is partnering up with Atkins nutritionist Collette Heimowitz who revealed to Extra about Kardashian’s diet plan that will help her lose the pounds in the next two weeks.
“We can pace the weight loss at 2 lbs. a week, so that it won’t affect her breast milk. And she gets adequate protein from chicken, fish and some meat.”
An insider close to Kardashian told E! News that she’s been staying on top of her goals, although it’s a difficult and slow process when she has to juggle a diet that’s not only safe for her, but also safe for her baby boy.
“Kim is staying on track with her weight loss progress and taking it day by day. She is very busy with Saint and North [West] in between of taking care of herself and being a wife. Running around with the kids definitely helps with shedding some weight, and she has been working out and eating healthy.”
Kim Kardashian West is on the Atkins 40 program, which allows her to eat carbohydrates to help restore her energy while she’s breastfeeding her baby. Along with eating protein and vegetables, Heimowitz says that Kardashian also eats plenty of low glycemic fruits like berries, healthy fats like Greek yogurt and olive oil, small portions of cheese, and nuts.
Kim isn’t just dieting though. She’s also working with a personal trainer to help shed the 40 pounds of fat. Kim’s nutritionist says that if she sheds two or three pounds per week, then it will take a few months, instead of a few weeks, for her to lose the weight.
But insiders are saying that Kim Kardashian’s weight loss is putting her health at risk. A new report in Life & Style Magazine says that Kardashian has been in a “panic” over losing the weight and has even been seen working out in the middle of the night. The alleged source also claims that she wants to make her diet “even stricter,” while a dietitian revealed that removing important nutrients and fats could potentially damage Kardashian’s breast milk production.
Another doctor warned that shedding the pounds quickly could cause serious health problems after such a difficult birth. Working out too soon after having a baby could cause Kim’s uterus to rupture, he warns to the tabloid.
As she juggles parenting with dieting, the style icon revealed on her blog that there’s one parenting choice that she won’t make and that’s breastfeeding in public. She wrote a blog post on her website explaining the reason behind her decision not to openly feed her child in public, like some many celebrity moms who do.
“Now that I’m a mom, I’m not that shocked, especially if you have a few kids and can’t leave to breastfeed one kid in the bathroom while leaving the others at the table. But I still personally wouldn’t do it, unless it was an emergency situation and I was fully covered.”
Of course, it’s Kardashian’s choice to discreetly nurse her son in public, if she chooses to do so. If she was spotted breastfeeding her child, then it would probably make national news.
