Rihanna Drops New Music Single, ‘Work’ Featuring Drake, For Anticipated Album ‘ANTI’

Rihanna has finally released a new single for her delayed album, ANTI. Her album, which has been anticipated by her fans and music insiders for months now, looks like it’s going to be released any day now, especially considering her latest single is with Drake.

These days, no one sits on a Drake collaboration for too long. The fact that Rihanna has released this single clearly signals that she’s gearing up for proper promotion of her latest album.

As stated, the single, called “Work,” featuring Drake, was released on January 27 ahead of her eighth studio album. Rihanna decided to drop the single on her official Twitter, complete with artwork to support the single, which is poised to be a major bop at clubs.

Rihanna has been using Twitter to drop numerous hints about ANTI‘s progress. Days before she dropped the single, the entertainer posted a snapshot of herself listening to the finished album.

The last time we reported on Rihanna’s album, ANTI, it was rumored to be dropped in February, along with Drake’s new album. So, this single is right on track with that prediction. A few days ago, she and Drake were spotted filming a music video, which we now know was for their collaboration, “Work.” It’s suggested that ANTI and Drake’s Views From The 6 are gearing up for a timed release.

The timing for both artists couldn’t be better, seeing as February 15 is when the Grammys will be held, which hints at a surprise performance. Perhaps the two will both hit the stage with singles of their own, and then come together to duet for their single, “Work”? It could happen.

This isn’t the only release fans of the Hip Hop world have been waiting for. In a surprise turn of events, rapper Kanye West has dropped the name “SWISH” for his upcoming album, and has decided the official album’s name is “WAVES“, which references a sound called Wave started by Max B. When rapper Wiz Khalifa pointed this out, West acknowledged Max B, who’s currently releasing tunes from jail.

Funny enough, both Rihanna and Kanye West were supposed to do a joint tour together, but that was canceled. OK! Magazine said that Rihanna was the one to pull the plug on the tour, after an anonymous sources “leaked” the video to their collaboration, “FourFiveSeconds.” A source told the magazine that at the time, Rihanna wasn’t impressed by how West was dealing with their business affairs.

“She started having second thoughts shortly after it was leaked back in February that the tour details were ‘accidentally’ released by Kanye’s creative team, DONDA. She didn’t like how it was announced and felt like Kanye would take control over how the tour was promoted too. She didn’t want to be a part of it.”

As for Rihanna’s new single with Drake, fans are going nuts in response even though there was a bit of confusion about how to listen to the new single. Originally, the single was only available on TIDAL, the music streaming service started by Jay Z, which Rihanna is part of, but now it’s been released on iTunes as well.

As it stands, “Work” is already number one on the U.S. charts on iTunes, so it looks like this was probably the best thing Rihanna could’ve done ahead of ANTI.
