‘Modern Family’ Season 7: When Will Episode 12 ‘Thunk In The Trunk’ Air?

The cast and crew of Modern Family Season 7 seem to be taking another short break. Episode 12, titled “Thunk in the Trunk,” will not be airing this Wednesday, January 27. Will the new episode feature another Haley and Andy story?

According to the International Business Times, fans of Modern Family will have to wait a few more weeks to watch a new episode. Season 7 Episode 12 will reportedly air on February 17.

Everybody Loves Raymond star Tina Arning will be making a TV comeback in “Thunk in the Trunk” after a 10-year hiatus. The actress will be playing the role of Tanya, the trophy wife of Claire’s (Julie Bowen) colleague. In the said episode, Claire will face a new challenge at work, which will affect her relationship with husband Phil (Ty Burrell).

Arning took a break from television to raise her three children with husband, internet entrepreneur Jason Brazell. The actress, however, remained visible in several theater productions, even winning an Indy Award for her role as Maggie the Cat in Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Meanwhile, Modern Family seems to be easing up on the whole Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Andy (Adam Devine) love story. The last time viewers saw them was back in Season 7 Episode 9, “White Christmas.”

In the episode, Phil busted Haley and Andy getting intimate, which led to him talking some sense into him. He always knew that Haley and Andy have feelings for each other, but had to put it aside since he is already engaged to Beth (Laura Ashley Samuels).

When Phil found out that the two were having an affair, he asked Andy to choose between Haley and Beth.

“That’s my daughter and you’re engaged to someone else. If it’s a fling, its over you understand me? But if it’s real you have to be honest with Beth. It’s time to step up and be a man.”

In the end, Andy chose to be honest with Beth but before he could even get a word out, Beth admitted that he has been cheating on him, too. As they were together for ten years, Andy was clearly upset by this, which infuriated Haley. Gloria (Sofia Vergara) interrupted their argument and told the couple that they should be thankful to have found each other.

“Andy stop whining! Be thankful that Haley likes you. She’s a stone cold 10 and you’re a Utah seven.”

While the episode ended showing Andy’s arm placed on Haley’s shoulder, many Modern Family fans believe that it the conflict has yet to be resolved. The fact that Andy has not appeared in an episode since could be a sign that the two have not worked things out just yet.

The Modern Family writers were milking the will-they-won’t-they plot since for two seasons already that Haley and Andy shippers are getting restless to see if they will eventually end up together. While there has been progress in Season 7, Redditors were having mixed feelings on how the Beth and Andy breakup was written.

Some pointed out that Beth was purposely made to look bad just so that Andy cheating on her would be justified.

“And, of course Beth cheated on Andy. That’s such a lazy cop out. They couldn’t have done one thing real?” mightytwin 21 wrote.

In the same Modern Family discussion board, some Redditors also claimed that it would have been much better if Andy got the chance to confess to Beth, adding that he always comes across as the good guy. They held that it was a lazy strategy to push Haley and Andy’s story forward. Some, however, argued that it has always been implied that Beth was cheating on Andy.
