‘The Walking Dead’: You Won’t Believe Who The New ‘Bad Guy’ Is, And No, It Isn’t Negan

The Walking Dead fans are anxiously waiting for the mid-season premiere that is due to air on Valentine’s Day. While there has not been much information about what the back half of the season will bring, AMC has released a few images from the mid-season premiere.

From the images revealed, it is clear that Sasha, Daryl, and Abraham will be featured in the premiere. This means that fans will get to see all the characters in the show at some point, letting them in on what is happening with everyone.

However, other than that, there isn’t much information in these images, nothing that will give away even the slightest hint of what fans are in for in the premiere.

While fans only have to wait until February 14 for the mid-season premiere of Season 6, they will have to wait longer than expected for The Walking Dead video game by Overkill. IGN reports that while the game was originally set to be released in 2016, the release date has now been pushed to the second half of 2017. Apparently, Smilegate has invested $40 million into Starbreeze, the publisher of the game, so they will be able to distribute the game through the Smilegate platform.

The game sounds truly exciting. Last year, Polygon reported that Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, gave a few details about the new Walking Dead game.

“One thing that we are doing, which I think is very cool about the Telltale game and the Starbreeze game and Air game is that they are all licensed games, and licensed games are usually somewhat cr*ppy, but thankfully our’s aren’t. The key I think, which is very important, is that we’re not doing, ‘Hey, it’s Daryl Dixon running around shooting zombies, because you like Daryl Dixon.’ Or ‘It’s Rick Grimes doing this because you like Rick Grimes.’ We’re telling our own stories and doing our own things almost as if they are original games.”

Fans of The Walking Dead have at least been able to enjoy one of the stars of the show during the interim, albeit in a different role entirely. Lauren Cohan stars in the recently released psychological thriller called The Boy, and Variety reports that Cohan said the brand of horror presented by The Walking Dead is very different from that of The Boy.

“It appealed to me to explore the psychological side of this. (My character’s) challenges are trying to navigate this by herself. It almost feels like a purgatory and she can’t really ascertain if what’s happening to her is real or not. When you look at The Walking Dead, you know you’re being chased and there is a verifiable death at your doorstep.”

Ultimately, though, fans just want the mid-season premiere to hurry up and get here. Particularly since the worst of the bad guys to ever be in The Walking Dead is due to make his debut by the end of the season. But Entertainment Weekly reports that Robert Kirkman spoke about the appearance of a new character from the comic book and he wasn’t referring to Negan.

“Jesus is just such a fun character to write in the comics. At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete bad*ss like Jesus.”

How exciting!
