‘Captain America 3’ — Which Avengers Will Die In ‘Civil War’? [Spoilers]

Based on what the studio has released so far in regards to Captain America: Civil War, there are some major developments in store for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, That Hashtag Show recently reported that up to three Avengers might be killed off in the film. Which superheroes are most likely to die in Civil War?

According to Cinema Blend, it has long been rumored that Captain America (Chris Evans) will meet his end in Civil War. This theory is largely based on the comics, which also feature Captain America dying during the same run. However, there are hints that point towards three other characters being killed off instead of Captain America.

For starters, fans have already seen an image of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) holding an injured War Machine (Don Cheadle). This scene was included in the trailer for the movie, and suggests that War Machine’s life is in danger.

However, according to Maxim, War Machine is not likely to die in Civil War, because filmmakers would not have given up such a huge spoiler in the first trailer. More than likely, War Machine just took a severe beat down at the hands of Captain America and his team, which will likely spark even more anger in Tony Stark.

The second likely character to meet their end is the Falcon (Anthony Mackie). The Falcon is fairly new to the Avengers, and is not one of the main superheroes. While this may set him up to be killed off in the upcoming film, there are a few reasons why the Falcon will probably be sticking around for the foreseeable future.

According to Movie News Guide, The Falcon’s speculated death is more likely an intentional misdirection by producers. After all, The Falcon does take over as Captain America following the death of Steve Rogers in the comics. While it is not known if the movie plans on following this storyline, it appears unlikely that the Falcon will be killed given his importance later on in the series.

The third candidate up for dying is unfortunately Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Although she made a big impression on fans in her first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, there might be a good reason why filmmakers choose to kill her off.

In fact, there is thought to be some kind of romance brewing between Scarlet Witch and Vision (Paul Bettany). If this is true, then Scarlet Witch’s death could be the catalyst that drives Vision away from Earth and into space. This is an important development in the series, and paves the way for the events that unfold in the next Avengers movie.

That being said, Olsen’s exit from the hit franchise would certainly not go over well with fans, especially given her importance in the last Avengers film. Even more, her character adds another layer of diversity to the group that offered a great change of pace from the usual powers of Iron Man, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Captain America.

Although these three characters could face their deaths in Captain America: Civil War, nothing is certain at this point. There are hints that fans should expect more than one death in the movie, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that any of them will die, let alone all three.

Furthermore, Captain America’s death cannot be ruled out, especially considering what goes on in the comics. In the end, we’ll likely have to wait until we get closer to the release of the film for further details.

Civil War is scheduled to open in theaters everywhere on May 6, 2016.
