WWE News: ‘Monday Night RAW’ Results — Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose At ‘Fast Lane’

After Triple H left the Royal Rumble as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, the WWE Universe had officially started the Road to WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. Sunday night, in Orlando, home to a strong “smark” population centered around WWE’s developmental program (NXT), those in attendance jeered Roman Reigns and cheered his elimination. Despite the fact that Triple H is supposed to be the biggest heel in the company — and that Roman Reigns is supposed to be the next John Cena — The Game’s Royal Rumble victory was met with a mixed reaction, at worst. When WWE traveled to Miami the following night for Monday Night RAW, they would try to more firmly establish Triple H as a true villain.

When you book a PPV match with WrestleMania implications involving arguably the three most popular WWE Superstars that are currently active and healthy, it’s hard to imagine that the WWE Universe will wind up hating you. Roman Reigns essentially appeals to the same people that love John Cena. Brock Lesnar appeals to the adults who love violent sports and like to cheer for real-life tough guys with MMA and NFL backgrounds. Finally, Dean Ambrose appeals to the IWC — the Internet Wrestling Community — who love underdogs from the indies that have paid their dues and make every match they’re in a potential five-star classic.

As noted by Forbes, the WWE is trying to pull a record-breaking crowd to WrestleMania 32. To accomplish this, they will need to be firing on all cylinders for every episode of RAW, every episode of SmackDown and the Fast Lane special.

The following contains the full results for the episode of WWE Monday Night RAW that the USA Network aired on January 25, 2016.

  • The show opened with Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon building heat with the Miami audience before bringing out Triple H. The Authority announced that they would be monitoring everyone’s performance on RAW to determine who competes at Fast Lane in a match to name the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 32.
  • Kevin Owens defeated Dolph Ziggler after a competitive match. Owens was given no mic time to address with A.J. Styles or Dean Ambrose, but he glanced at the WrestleMania banner hanging in the arena.
  • The Social Outcasts came out to the ring and called out Flo Rida, who had been shown in the audience earlier in the night. Bo Dallas challenged him to a rap battle. This lead to a match involving the Dudley Boyz.
  • The Dudley Boyz defeated Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. Flo Rida, Heath Slater and Adam Rose were all at ringside, resulting in some attempts at humor.
  • Renee Young interviewed the newly signed A.J. Styles backstage about his debut at the Royal Rumble and his debut on WWE RAW in a match against Chris Jericho. Y2J interrupted the promo:

“Welcome to the big leagues, kid.”

  • It was revealed that WWE Diva Nikki Bella will undergo neck surgery.
  • A.J. Styles defeated Chris Jericho. He attempted to hit his Styles Clash finisher, but Jericho blocked it. He failed an attempt during the Rumble Match as well. After the match, they shook hands but also had an intense stare-down. There’s a possibility this could develop into a brief feud or a rematch at Fast Lane.

  • Sasha Banks defeated Becky Lynch via disqualification after Charlotte interfered. While the WWE Divas Champion attacked both competitors, the referee called the match after she first attacked Sasha Banks. It would seem that Becky Lynch now needs to interrupt a match between Charlotte and Banks.
  • Goldust approached R-Truth about being tag team partners. R-Truth misunderstood the invitation as a come-on and left the room.

  • It was announced that Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns will be guests on the Highlight Reel this week on Thursday Night SmackDown.
  • Bray Wyatt defeated Kane. Post-match, much like it happened during the Rumble Match, Bray instructed Wyatt Family members Braun Stowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan to further assault Kane.
  • WWE had teased the return of a major WWE Superstar for this episode of RAW. In an attempt to throw everyone off, The Miz showed up at first. He was shortly interrupted by The Rock, who was strangely energetic and appeared to be improvising much of what he was saying. He referred to Byron Saxton as “that other black dude” — which lead The New Day to passive-aggressively rip on him — and interviewed some fans in the front row, one of whom was dressed like He Who Shall Not Be Named (Hulk Hogan). It was a very long segment that ended with The Rock calling out his cousins The Usos. The Samoan threesome laid out The New Day.
  • Paige and Natalya defeated Alicia Fox and Brie Bella. There was no clear angle they were going for aside from reminding people that all four of these WWE Divas are on Total Divas, which just began a new season last Tuesday on the E! Network.
  • WWE United States Champion Kalisto defeated The Miz. No apparent storyline progression.
  • WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns defeated Sheamus and Rusev. Even with League of Nations members King Barrett and Alberto Del Rio at ringside, the former Shield members came out on top. Post-match, Rusev was double-powerbombed through an announce table.
  • Stephanie McMahon came out after the match to announce the main event for WWE Fast Lane: a Triple Threat Match involving Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 32.

These results have all been corroborated by WWE.com’s official Monday Night RAW recap.

WWE Monday Night RAW airs every Monday night on the USA Network at 8/7c. A short, 90-minute version of WWE RAW can be viewed on Hulu Plus beginning Tuesdays.
