Nick Jonas Admits He’s ‘Had Sex & Drank A Lot’ In Candid New Interview

Nick Jonas has certainly come a long way since his purity ring days as one third of the Jonas Brothers.

In a very candid new interview with the Daily Beast, Jonas got pretty frank about sex, drugs, and drinking while promoting his new frat brother film, Goat, at Sundance Film Festival.

Nick Jonas confessed to the site that his character in the drama throws himself into the life of a fraternity and everything that comes with it, as well as surprisingly admitting that the life of a fraternity brother isn’t actually too different from his own.

“I think that growth is super important in any creative platform and in life in general,” Nick Jonas told the Daily Beast of his pretty hard-core new role, “in the TV show I’m doing a lot of drugs and I’m having a lot of sex.” Nick Jonas then candidly added that his on-screen antics “[weren’t] foreign to me.”

“I’ve had sex and drank a lot [in real life], so there are parts of this film that are perfectly real in some sense,” Nick Jonas continued in the honest new interview. “But it’s important to take your fans on a journey. And it’s the responsibility of any artist to say, ‘This is what I’m connected to, this is what inspires me, and hopefully you can ask the same questions I’ve asked of myself.’ ”

As fans of the musician and actor will already know, during his time in the Jonas Brothers with his two brothers Kevin and Joe Jonas, Nick famously wore a purity ring, which Joe told The Huffington Post in 2008 served as “promises to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure till marriage.”

However, Jonas revealed that he officially ditched the ring during recent appearance on The Wendy Williams Show in 2014, after the outspoken host asked Nick point blank if he was still observing abstinence.

Confirming that he was no longer a virgin, Jonas told the daytime host that he didn’t regret his decision to remove the ring, adding that he felt “it was an important part of [his] childhood and it was that.”

“I think as I grew up, I sort of figured out what was important to me and my own belief system,” Nick Jonas continued during the revealing interview on the syndicated The Wendy Williams Show. “We all grow up and we all live life and find out what’s important to us, that’s what happened. I went on that journey myself and I’m now comfortable with who I am and what I believe in and I’m an adult in all ways.”

As for how his relationship with his fellow Jonas Brothers bandmates is now, Jonas told the Daily Beast that he’s grown closer to his siblings since the band sensationally split for good in 2013.

“I mean, having gone from working with my brothers every day for years to not—and me being the one to initiate that conversation, of closing that chapter—was very hard,” Jonas told the site, “We had to relearn how to be a family, which is kind of a big thing.”

“I would say I’m very close with my brothers now, especially my brother Joe,” Nick Jonas continued in the interview. “Actually, that relationship was a big part of the relationship that I had in the back of my head [when filming]. After the film was done, I had a lot of perspective to bring to that relationship that I didn’t have before.”
