Gretchen Rossi Hits Up Sundance As Slade’s Son Struggles With Severe Cancer Setback

Gretchen Rossi has been fighting for a life with Slade Smiley for years. Gretchen really wanted to get engaged and married to Slade, even though her Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars were not supportive of her relationship. Gretchen started dating Slade shortly after she lost her fiancé to cancer years ago. Her co-stars were skeptical because Slade had already dated two other housewives.

But Gretchen Rossi wasn’t giving up. Rossi is already planning on having a child with him, and they have been undergoing IVF treatments. Even though Gretchen really wants a child of her own, she knows that Smiley is already a parent. He is currently dealing with a very sick son, as Grayson is currently battling cancer — and things aren’t going so well.

According to a new Radar Online report, Gretchen Rossi is currently at the Sundance Festival even though Slade’s son is struggling. Apparently, things are not going so well with Grayson, and he is struggling with the cancer he has battled for years.

“A year ago last November, a simple cold put Gray back in ICU on a ventilator, which triggered a series of setbacks that he has been unable to recover from,” Michelle Arroyo, Grayson’s mother, has revealed on a website created in his name.

Slade’s son wasn’t a big part of the Real Housewives of Orange County, and Gretchen Rossi talked about the situation a few times. But she hasn’t actually talked about the case in detail. When Rossi was on the show, she only focused on the drama with her co-stars, and she may have tried to protect Slade from the public. It is no secret that Tamra Barney has attacked Slade over his parenting before.

“The year of 2015 seemed to follow suit with one complicated infection after another. We have been dealing with a staph infection and an eye infection that continues to rear its ugly head, which we have been treating for seven months. He also developed walking pneumonia and recurring sinus infections that we have not been able to get rid of. After a 45 day course of heavy duty antibiotics his body just can’t seem to fight anything,” Grayson’s mother continues, adding, “It seems the older Gray gets, the more difficult the medical trauma effects his sweet soul.”

Slade Smiley doesn’t live close to his son, and his mother explains that Grayson does feel isolated and alone at times. Many people do think that Slade should be spending more time with his son, and leaving Gretchen Rossi behind at times to focus on his parenting responsibilities. This is where the “deadbeat dad” label came from. And while Gretchen isn’t talking about her future stepson’s cancer battle, she is talking about her own journey to become a parent.

“Everything that could have gone right with the procedure did!” Gretchen Rossi recently told Radar Online about her pregnancy plans, adding, “From everything that I can see I should be able to conceive naturally. I have been eating very specifically and taking my prenatal vitamins. I have wanted this since I was a little girl, to be a mother one day, and finally now my dream can come true.”

Gretchen Rossi is no longer on The Real Housewives of Orange County, but she continues to speak out about her relationship. According to In Touch magazine, Gretchen is ready to have a baby and she is working on making it happen. But it sounds like Grayson isn’t a top priority for her these days, but he should be for his father, Slade.

What do you think of Gretchen Rossi’s attendance at Sundance? Do you think Slade should go be with his son more than he is, especially since he is struggling so much these days?
