Jessica Chastain: How ‘The Martian’ Actress Used Social Media To Find A Lost Dog

Actress Jessica Chastain was able to use her social media presence and popularity for good recently.

The Oscar-nominated actress used her Instagram following to successfully search for her grandmother’s lost dog, Livvy.

Chastain simply posted a photo the lost dog on her Instagram account earlier this week, reaching out to her Instagram fan base of over 481,000 followers.

According to her detailed caption, little Livvy was reportedly stolen from a McDonald’s location in Vallejo, California. She also mentioned that there would be a reward involved for the safe return of her grandmother’s dog.

“My grandma’s dog, Livvy, was stolen last night from McDonald’s at 2565 Springs Rd Vallejo, CA. Please forward this to anyone you know in CA. There’s a REWARD for Livvys safe return. For those of you who love animals, you must understand how devastated my grandma is. Please help. xxjes”

It did not take very long for Jessica’s post to generate buzz among her followers. One member in particular, Instagram user “Moejeau“, even mentioned that Livvy’s search was added to the Facebook page “Vallejo’s Lost Dogs” – an online page dedicated specifically to searching for lost dogs in Vallejo.

Fortunately, little Livvy was eventually found and returned to her anxious owner. Jessica Chastain’s original Instagram post of Livvy’s picture was then updated with the simple statement that “Livvy was found” in all capital letters.

In a different Instagram post, Jessica shared an adorable picture of her smiling grandmother’s reunion with her previously lost dog enjoying a warm and close embrace.

Jessica used the caption of that particular Instagram post to sincerely express her gratitude for everyone that played a part in searching for and finding Livvy.

“Livvy is FOUND!!!!! My grandma picked her up a couple hours ago. Thank you to each and every one of you that spread the word and put attention on this. I truly believe you all are the the guardian angels that reunited these 2 beauties. Much love to you xxjess #love #gratitude”

Jessica Chastain is not the only celebrity success story on social media this month when it comes to the virtual “lost and found” collection. Entertainment Weekly reports that Mark Ruffalo lost his own cell phone along with his wallet. Instead of keeping it to himself or trying to keep that information away from the public eye, the Oscar-nominated actor decided to do the exact opposite.

He tweeted about it to his own growing fan base of followers. Fortunately, that tweet led to the safe return of his personal belongings as well after two honest people took the necessary steps to get those items to their rightful owner.

Multiple reports confirm that Mark Ruffalo gave his fortunate finders a $100 reward along with a signed Hulk picture. There is no report as of yet that confirms the type of reward Jessica Chastain offered to the fortunate finder that found her grandmother’s dog. However, the type of exposure that lost & found searches have received from these A-list Hollywood celebrities recently speaks volumes about the overall power of social media.
