WWE News: Royal Rumble To Feature Inconclusive Finish With Reigns and Lesnar?

The WWE has reportedly discussed ending tonight’s Royal Rumble match with an inconclusive finish featuring both current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, according to Daily Wrestling News.

With Reigns set to defend his championship at the first entrant in the Royal Rumble tonight, he will face stiff odds and competition to retain his title. His Wrestlemania 31 opponent, Lesnar, is set to be in his second career Royal Rumble match, having won the first one he competed in back in 2003. With the winner of the match a virtual mystery at this point, there’s talk of reprising this past Wrestlemania main event once again.

Daily Wrestling News’ report states that WWE is thinking about an inconclusive finish to match so that they can set up a Lesnar vs. Reigns rematch at WWE Fastlane next month. In an interview with Crave Online the day after this past Monday’s RAW, Reigns described what it’s liked to fight Lesnar and promised some brutality for tonight’s pay-per-view.

“It’s very simple [laughs] with the way me and Brock [Lesnar] do our battles. We hit really hard. He tries to throw me as far as he can and I’m trying to rip his face apart and break his ribs. It’s a brutal contest anytime him and I step into the ring. As you saw last night, you didn’t see any playing around. I went to the red button immediately and sometimes with him, you got to double-tap or triple that button. That’s probably what you’re going to see on Sunday.”

It would allow WWE to keep the championship on Reigns longer, instead of having him lose it for the second time in over two months. Reigns won his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship this past November at Survivor Series — losing the title just five minutes and 15 seconds later to Sheamus who cashed in his Money in the Bank.

A few weeks later, Reigns reclaimed his title on Monday Night RAW, defeating Sheamus just one night after he was screwed out of his only chance to win the title back at WWE TLC.

Additionally, WWE may choose to go this route with tonight’s match so they can ease Lesnar into his rumored Wrestlemania 32 feud, which is reportedly going to be against The Wyatt Family. The four bearded men dismantled Lesnar at the end of RAW this week, fueling rumors that Lesnar may be fighting the Wyatt’s in some form at Wrestlemania.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a Bray Wyatt vs. Lesnar match has been discussed. However, this week, there were two rumors about Lesnar’s potential role at Wrestlemania: 1. Fight “The Black Sheep” Braun Stroman in a one-on-one contest. 2. Take on all the members of the Wyatt Family in a handicap match.

Reigns’ rumored opponent at Wrestlemania 32 is “The Game” Triple H. He has not been seen on WWE television since Reigns assaulted him at WWE TLC. Daily Wrestling News adds that it’s not known whether or not Triple H will enter the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant, but it has definitely been discussed. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is reportedly a fan of the idea that includes Triple H appearing in a wrestling capacity tonight.

However, if WWE’s intended direction is having Lesnar fight Reigns again next month would allow them to give that feud a proper conclusion before both men enter their Wrestlemania 32 programs.
