Ellen Page Opens Up About Girlfriend Samantha Thomas

Ellen Page is currently at Sundance screening her new movie, Tallulah. While on the red carpet, Page, 28, opened up about her girlfriend, Samantha Thomas. Thomas, 33, was the subject of conversation when Page his the red carpet with E!.

According to the outlet, Page opened up what it’s like to be in love. Of her whereabouts, Ellen said, “She’s home working. I wish she could be here.” Although she might not have a date for Sundance, Page said that since the two made their debut as a couple at the Toronto International Film Festival she’s “absolutely!” still in love with her girlfriend.

Page continued to gush about her girlfriend who she’s been private about. “She’s awesome and we have so much fun together. We love each other and support each other. It’s the best.”

And their fun has been documented by the paparazzi. Ellen and Samantha were captured back in October taking in the sights in Rome. The two were also captured sharing a sweet kiss while visiting the Catacombs of St. Domitilla. The photo of the two was taken at the terrace of Gianicolo hill.

Shortly after their debut as a couple, Page decided to post a fun picture of the two on her Instagram.

Two days after their Freeheld premiere debut, Page shared a cute photo of them enjoying a concert. At the time, it was easy to see that love was in the air for Page, who told E! about her new love.

“I’m in love. Walking down the red carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special. It’s pretty awesome.”

As for her Sundance film, Tallulah, the film sees Page as a drifter who kidnaps a newborn because she thinks her own mother, who has a drinking problem, is ill-equipped to take care of the baby. Of the experience filming this story, Page said that it was, “Honestly, it’s one of the most special acting experiences I’ve ever had.”

She continued: “Needless to say, but it presented a new challenge because your first thought is, ‘This baby needs to be OK, it needs to be safe.’ I want the parents to feel OK and acting is a little bit secondary to that. You could never predict what your little co-star is going to do. That forces you to be so, so, so present and so open. I just felt connected to her.”

As for whether or not it made her think about having her own kids, she said that even though she was nervous at first about handling a baby, she said that she and the baby bonded, which put her at ease. That said, Page doesn’t seem like she wants a baby tomorrow.

Aside from her work as an actress, since Ellen Page came out at the Time to Thrive conference in 2014, she has been an advocate for LGBT rights.

In October, she accepted the 2015 Vanguard Award from the Human Rights Campaign. In response, Page said, “When people are [called] brave in regards to playing LGBTQ people, that’s borderline offensive. I’m never going to be considered brave for playing a straight person, and nor should I be.”

Of her moment of coming out, she said she was happier than ever. “You feel excited about life, and motivated and inspired. You want to do more. You want to go on adventures.”
