‘Destiny:’ Xur’s Exotic Goods For Jan. 22, Exotic Chest Engram Tests RNG Patience
The visit from Xûr in the tower is for those Destiny players who have prayed to the RNG (Random Number Generator) gods and goddesses that work behind the scenes of the game. The Exotic armor on sale to PlayStation and Xbox players is not particularly exciting, but the Agent of the Nine is selling an Exotic Chest Engram this week.
Those looking for Xûr should run straight ahead after spawning in the Tower toward the Vanguard Hall with Cayde-6, Ikora Rey, and Zavala. He is located to the right of the table where the three Vanguards stand, against the wall. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map, just to be sure.
Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, January 24. As soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT, he will be gone.Exotic Gear on Sale

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.
MK. 44 Stand Asides
The MK. 44 Stand Asides serve a very niche role for those that enjoy using the Striker Titan sub-class’ Shoulder Charge ability. The “Be Somewhere Else” innate perk grants a longer duration for when the Shoulder Charge can be activated and gives a tighter turn radius while sprinting. This is best used in Destiny‘s Crucible against other players. Even then, there are other Exotic armor pieces likely to be favored. The optional perks for MK. 44 Stand Asides provide the choice between carrying more Sniper Rifle Ammo or more Rocket Launcher ammo. The 61 Discipline / 61 Strength split stat are excellent for these boots so there’s really not much reason to re-roll using Glass Needles unless you prefer ammo for different weapons.
Sealed Ahamkara Grasps
This Year Two Exotic Gauntlet piece for Hunters works well with the new Nightstalker subclass, as well as Bladedancers, due to the extra melee charge. This will give Hunters the ability to go invisible twice, which is always a bonus in PVE and sometimes in PVP, too.The second column random perk rolls include “Switchblade” for reduced melee cooldown time and “Impact Induction” for bonus grenade energy on melee hits. The third column optional perks offer a choice between faster Sidearm or Rocket Launcher reloading.
The split 44 Discipline and 41 Strength stat roll is solid for Destiny players. Glass Needles usage should be considered for potentially better stats and/or to get the reload perks for your most used weapons.
The Ram
Bungie gave The Ram a bit of a nerf for Year Two, but it’s still an incredibly useful helmet to turn Warlocks into tanks in both Crucible and PVE activities. The “Strength of the Ram” perk not only gives extra Armor, but also activates Voidwalker’s Life Steal ability on every melee hit. This Helmet still stacks well with the Sunsinger’s Flamestrike Overshield, as well. The optional perks offer up a choice between “Hands-On” and “Second Thoughts” for bonus Super energy either from melee kills or Special Weapon Kills. The final column perk is “Infusion” to replenish health when you pick up an Orb of Light.
The 74 Strength stat lines up nicely for The Ram’s main bonus of doing melee damage. It wouldn’t hurt to shoot for the “Inverse Shadow” perk in the second column over the current “Hands On” perk, though, via re-rolling.
