Willie Robertson Officially Endorses Donald Trump, ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Makes His Own Choice

It looks like Willie Robertson is not letting his dad influence his choice of presidential candidates. The Duck Dynasty star is heading in another direction, as he has now publically endorsed Donald Trump to “make American great again.”

This all happened at the 16th Annual Outdoor Sportsman Awards Show in Las Vegas on Thursday night. The two men were both to make appearances at the show when the Duck Commander came out to make his announcement, according to PR Newswire.

Being a huge supporter of outdoor lifestyle activities, Robertson came out to support this event and then went on to announce the controversial frontrunner.

“He’s not afraid to tell it like it is. He’s a friend of the Second Amendment… the man I’m standing behind to be the next President of the United States – Donald Trump.”

The reality star also gushed about Donald Trump in a press release, explaining what his choice represents and what made the decision for him.

“Mr. Trump is a real leader. He represents success and strength, two attributes our country needs. Like me, he is a successful businessman and family man and I endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.”

Willie joins Trump’s growing list of high-profile supporters who are backing him for the presidency. Just a few days ago, Sarah Palin gave her own stamp of approval and has since been quite outspoken about getting Trump in the White House. This seems to set the stage for an interesting 2016.

In return for Willie Robertson’s kind words, Donald Trump returned the favor with in his own speech.

“He is a great person, has had tremendous success and a really terrific family,” Trump said. “He believes in my message and knows that I am the only one who will Make America Great Again!”

The SHOT Show, the world's largest annual trade show for shooting, hunting and law enforcement professionals, runs through January 23 and features 1,600 exhibitors showing off their latest products and services to more than 62,000 attendees.

Many may have thought that Willie Robertson would have followed in his dad’s footsteps to endorse Senator Ted Cruz. Phil Robertson had recently posted a video, as reported by People, in which he clearly supports Cruz. The two were seen in the video going duck hunting together, and the Robertson patriarch stated that Ted Cruz was his man because of his Godly ways. Phil may not have thought the same about Donald Trump, but the two Robertson men don’t always see eye to eye on everything.

The 43-year-old CEO has had positive words about Trump for the past few months. It may not really come as a surprise that Willie has endorsed him, but what about the rest of the Duck Dynasty family?

Brothers Jase and Jep are not as involved and outspoken about their political view as Willie has been in the past. In fact, Jase pretty much sticks close to home like his dad Phil does. Jep, on the other hand, just started his own reality show with wife Jessica called Jep and Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, and they sure are. The couple just adopted a sweet baby boy named Jules Augustus as seen in their first episode. This is their fifth child that they just added to their family and they couldn’t be happier.

The Robertson family are huge advocates for adoption. Willie and Korie’s son Will was adopted as a baby, and they have just recently announced that they are also adding a son to their growing brood. As Korie had posted on her Twitter, their newest addition is a little bit older this time around.

“We are in the process of adopting now, but this time it’s not a baby! Our newest addition is 13! God is good!”

The Duck Dynasty stars are still going strong. It will be interesting to see if having the backing of Willie Robertson will be good for Donald Trump’s campaign.
