AMC has just released new images from the upcoming season 6 return of The Walking Dead. From the images and the previous video released, it seems Episode 9 (entitled “No Way Out”) will be focused on the introduction of Negan’s group.
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains speculation about the upcoming second half of season 6 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you have not yet viewed the first half of Season 6 or wish to avoid potential spoilers.
“The new world comes with a price.”
This is the tagline AMC is using to promote their Valentine’s Day return of season 6 of The Walking Dead. It would imply, along with the rest of the promotional items, that Negan’s group will — at least — charge admission to enter their part of the zombie apocalypse in the second half of season 6.
So far, AMC has announced Negan will definitely join The Walking Dead in season 6, having cast Supernatural actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the iconic villain. But, as The Spoiling Fans first reported from a leaked casting call, Negan will not turn up until the very last episode of season 6. If this is the case, it seems AMC will set up the remainder of season 6 in anticipation of the comic books favorite baddie’s entrance.
“Your property now belongs to Negan.”
The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead showed a special sneak peek clip in which Negan’s group is introduced to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), with the line uttered above. This is the first time Negan’s name has been mentioned in the TV version of The Walking Dead, a moment eagerly anticipated by comic book fans.
Now AMC has released new images of Daryl, Sasha, Abraham, and Father Gabriel Stokes that seem to correlate to this video clip, further endorsing the fact that Episode 9 will deal with the initial introduction of Negan’s group to the Walking Dead universe.
The images give little away, other than that Daryl appears to have some sort of injury to his forehead that hasn’t been attended to. Could Negan’s group have tried to rough up Daryl Dixon after he resisted giving up his property? Comic book fans would say yes, although it may just be leftover blood from his encounter with the mysterious trio back in Episode 6 of The Walking Dead — the strange group that may also be mixed up with owing Negan’s group — although, watching the above video, both the blood on Daryl’s forehead and arm seem to be ominously missing.
Besides Daryl being messed up, there are images of Sasha and Abraham. Sasha looks stern and she has one hand on her weapon. She is definitely in a defensive stance. Abraham is still in his officer’s uniform he found when he and Sasha were separated from Daryl and they holed up in a building for a while. Interestingly enough, Abraham appears to be seated and appears to be the least concerned out of the group.
The last image appears to be completely separate from the images showing Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham. This image shows Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) looking towards the camera and certainly looks apprehensive about something. Although, to be honest, that seems to be the priest’s normal facial expression of late in The Walking Dead as he not only desperately tries to adapt to a cruel new world but also hides from the demons of his past when the zombie apocalypse first started and he locked his parishioners out of his church, dooming them to a fate worse than death.
