The New 'Suicide Squad' Trailer Dropped Last Night

The brand new Suicide Squad trailer premiered yesterday, which is six months after the first one hit the internet back in August of 2015. The film is directed by David Ayer and stars Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jai Courtney, to name a few.

EW reports Jared Leto got to talk about his transformation into one of the best bad guys of all time -- the joker.

"There was definitely a period of... detachment. I took a pretty deep dive," he told Empire. "But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn't imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games."

Heath Ledger's departure from the norm when playing the Joker is something that Leto is trying to channel as well. It's safe to say that Leto's portrayal of the Joker will be unlike anything we've seen

"If you don't break rules, you're not going to strike new ground," he explained.

"There's a power to that character," David Ayer elaborated, "and by some freaking miracle, through the incredible things Jared has done and the photography and all the other things that went into it, we've cooked up something transcendent."

The last movie that Jared Leto starred in was Dallas Buyers Club, which came out three years ago.

Fellow actor Will Smith also elaborated on his role of Deadshot in the upcoming film, saying, "I guess I always liked the concept of dubious morals. I always liked to play in that area. But the focus is he is committed to lying, he is commited to wearing a mask and no one ever knowing who he is."

This decision by Deadshot ultimately leads to a sacrifice on his part.

"The idea is that you can't have love if you're lying. You know, you can't have that thing that we all search for if you're not being authentic and living without the mask. So he's made a decision that being a liar is the only way he can survive," Smith continued.

Will is coming off what many critics say is one of his best performances ever for his role in Concussion. Although he was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes, the Academy didn't include him in their list of Best Actor nominations.

Ever since Margot Robbie was cast as Harley Quinn, fans everywhere have been dying to glimpse any footage of the popular character. Margot Robbie is best known for her role in The Wolf of Wall Street, but that might change given the hype surrounding Suicide Squad.

Design & Trend reports that Margot was thrilled to work with Will Smith again after doing Focus together.

"I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again," she said.

"I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, 'You'd better be taking this movie!' He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He's awesome on set and awesome off set."

As for the character, Margot is excited about her portrayal, saying, "It's the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life."
