Kanye West Misses G.O.O.D. Fridays Song Release, But Kim Gives Good Explanation [Video]

Kanye West missed a song release for his “G.O.O.D. Fridays” series, and Kim Kardashian had a good explanation why. According to the reality star, West missed the important day because he had to go to Italy for a last minute Yeezy Season 3 fitting, Kardashian explained over Twitter.

As soon as he landed at LAX airport in Los Angeles, Kim promised, Kanye would be in the studio putting finishing touches on his latest release. In her Twitter explanation, Kim assured fans that “I soooo didn’t mean to lie to you guys about GOOD FRIDAYS coming back.”

Kim explaimed that “Kanye flew to Italy for a Yeezy Season 3 fitting.” Confirming that a new song release was eminent, Kim tweeted that West “flew Noah out with him so he could finish ‘No More Parties In La’ & wrote 90 bars on the plane there!!!”

The “G.O.O.D. Fridays” series began in 2010 when Kanye dropped a new track every Friday before his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was released. The “good” part of “G.O.O.D. Fridays” is a reference to Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D. Music.

Since Kanye is releasing a new album entitled Swish on February 11, he revived the promotional tactic of giving fans a new song every Friday leading up to the release of the album. When the first song “Real Friends” was shared, Kardashian got in on the fun, tweeting to her social media followers “Friiiiiiday!!!! New music!!!!” on January 7.

To the message, Kim Kardashian added the hashtags #EveryFriday #Swish #RealFriends as well as lots of clef notes and fire emojis, reports the Daily Mail.

As promised, Kanye dropped “Real Friends” as well as a preview of the song “No More Parties in LA,” which features Kendrick Lamar on January 7. The next song, “No More Parties In LA” was supposed to be released on January 15.

When he shared “Real Friends” with fans, West also shared a throw-back photo of himself as a teenager in front of a piano. The photo featured a preppy West, concentrating fiercely as he played the instrument. Along with the photo, Kanye tweeted “‘No More Parties in LA’ featuring Kendrick Lamar intro produced by me/track by Madlib.”

Although the new completed version of song with Lamar did not materialize on Friday, January 15 as promised because Kanye West was out of the country, Kim let fans know that “[t]his is the 1st song ever with Kanye & Kendrick Lamar,” and let fans know the minute Kanye landed and that he was “headed straight to the studio to finish it!!!”

The last time Kanye West released an album was in 2013. During an interview with Los Angeles’ Real 92.3’s Big Boy last November, West highlighted that he’s working hard on Swish but has been taking it slow to make sure the songs are “sounding good,” reports the Daily Mail.

According to West, he does not want to “overly describe it or overly try to hype it up,” but promises the new album is “like a sonic painting,” and every minute he spends on it, the album “gets better and better every week.”

Swish will apparently be quite different than his last release, Kanye promises. Swish will be about “embracing joy,” while 2013’s Yeezus was “a protest of music” against the fashion industry, Kanye West explained. Swish, however, is “just embracing the music, embracing joy, and just being of service to the people.”

Kanye recently welcomed a new son to the world with his wife, Kim Kardashian. The little boy, named Saint, was born prematurely, but was born healthy. Earlier in 2015, West released a single, “Only One,” which is said to be about his two year old daughter, North.

Swish is set to be available on February 11, 2016.
