On January 10, it was announced Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in Suicide Squad. Beyond that news, not much else is known about the role Batman will play in the movie. IGN reports Affleck said he’s “bound by nondisclosure clauses a mile long.”

With the superhero lineup on the CW, Warner Bros. has chosen the network to debut the first official trailer for Suicide Squad, Collider reports. The new Suicide Squad trailer will debut on Tuesday, January 19, as part of a special airing on the CW. The special will give viewers a preview of what to expect from the upcoming slate of live-action superhero films in the DC Comics Universe.

The special begins with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now, airing at 9 p.m. ET.

Next, at 9:30 p.m. ET, self-professed comic book aficionado Kevin Smith and DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns will host a half-hour special together, DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League, which will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Wonder Woman.

According to Movieweb, the CW promises there will be interviews with Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and actors Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavill. Viewers will also get a look at never-before-seen footage and glimpses at some of DC’s most nefarious super villains.

During this half-hour program, the Suicide Squad trailer will debut.

“It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?”

Two trailers for the upcoming special have been released by the CW online. You can check out one of the trailers below.

The big event of the night will likely be the premiere of the Suicide Squad trailer, as many are highly anticipating the film. There have been little-to-no details as to what writer/director David Ayer has up his sleeve for the infamous group of super-villains.

Collider warns any footage shown from the Wonder Woman film might not include any special effects because filming just began a couple of months ago. Whether there aren’t any effects shown, fans will still be eager to get any glimpse of the upcoming movie that they can.

The first footage of Suicide Squad debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con and showed Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller in action.

Suicide Squad is slated for release in theaters on August 5.

The CW DC Comics special will air at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 19, and will include the first official trailer for Suicide Squad. Are you excited to see the trailer?
