‘The Walking Dead’ Cast Reveal Their Other Talents

The Walking Dead is set to have its mid-season premiere on Valentine’s Day, which will make the perfect date night for all those zombie loving fans out there.

But The Walking Dead is so much more than just its storylines. The actors and actresses that fans see each week are highly talented and pursuing other avenues in order to show off that talent.

Consider Ross Marquand, who plays Aaron on The Walking Dead. Vanity Fair reports that Marquand can do a lot of impressions in a short amount of time. How about 17 impressions in three minutes? Previously, he was well known for his Matthew McConaughey impression, which is really impressive.

Here is Marquand’s full set of 17 impressions.

Aside from Marquand’s impressions, what else does The Walking Dead cast have in store for fans? Deadline reports that Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead, is a talented actress who has been cast to play Afeni Shakur, the mother of Tupac in the biopic of the rapper, called All Eyez On Me. Besides that, Gurira is an award-winning playwright who recently had her play, Eclipsed, starring Lupita Nyong’o, off-Broadway. The play will be moving to Broadway in March.

Post Gazette reports that Lauren Cohen, who plays Maggie Green in The Walking Dead, has been cast in a great thriller called The Boy.

She plays an American nanny who goes to work for a couple in a remote village in the English countryside. However, her charge isn’t a child at all, but a creepy doll that the parents think of as a real boy.

Then there is Sarah Wayne Callies, who once played Lori Grimes on The Walking Dead. She is now starring in the new television show Colony. Fansided compares the role of Lori Grimes with Callies’ new role as Katie Bowman.

Both characters are mothers who had a somewhat difficult time keeping up with her kid. In both shows, the human threat was sometimes worse than the non-human threat. And, of course, there are non-human threats in both shows. But really, that’s probably where the similarities end. Colony looks like it will be intriguing.

Of course, The Walking Dead has been keeping its cast busy onset with the upcoming second half of Season 6. Vanity Fair reports that AMC has released a promo picture for the premiere that shows a collage of images, including the one of clasping hands that fans have already seen. But the picture shows a number of other images that show-runner Scott Gimple explains.

“This image gives a look at tiny pieces of a larger world our group is about to discover. In the new world, they’ll find hope, possibility, tragedy and the terrifying cost of change.”

There are no real spoilers here for The Walking Dead, but beware there is speculation as to what these images might mean. Among the images is one of a large satellite dish, which implies a connection with the greater world. There is also a hand, which is clearly Carol’s, holding a crucifix. Is that Father Gabriel’s crucifix, and if so, why is Carol holding it? There is also the image of a walker wearing a wedding ring, who is obviously Deanna.

The Walking Dead has come such a long way in its six seasons, partly because of the incredible storyline and the images of the undead, but also because of the amazing talent of the cast that fans see on the show each week. There is no doubt that level of talent will continue with the present cast, the introduction of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, and the introduction of other new cast members.
