‘General Hospital’ News: There’s A New Doc Scrubbing In, ‘Supernatural’ Actor Matt Cohen Joins Cast
There’s a new hunky doctor coming to Port Charles. Matt Cohen will be donning his scrubs and making his way into town sometime during the first week of February. He will be taking on the role as Dr. Griffin Munro on the ABC daytime drama, and fans couldn’t be happier to hear this news.
Cohen began taping his scenes last week, according to ABC Soaps In Depth, who were the first ones to report this exciting news. Nothing else is known about this character so far. General Hospital fans will certainly be interested to know more about this mysterious new doc.

Matt Cohen is new to the world of daytime drama. The 33-year-old actor has been around primetime TV, though. He played the role of Aiden Dennison for four seasons in South of Nowhere, and also made guest appearances on Supernatural and How To Get Away With Murder. He may just be a breath of fresh air on GH.
It’s a good thing that a new doc is coming to town, because the only one who seems to be on staff at General Hospital these days is Lucas Jones. Ever since Dr. Patrick Drake left town with his family a couple weeks ago, viewers have been wondering how this hospital was going to survive without Patty around. He seemed to do pretty much everything. Dr. Drake was considered the best neurosurgeon around, but every time there was a medical crisis, Patrick was always there to save a life.
Nothing more is known about this new Dr. Munro, other than the fact that he will be joining the staff at the hospital. It is not known just yet what kind of doctor he is or if he is related to anyone in Port Charles, which eventually happens in most of the story lines on soap operas. The General Hospital staff is keeping quiet about the details for now. Fans will just have to wait and see what develops.
Of course, where there is a hunky soap actor, there is always love in the air. Fans of General Hospital will right away wonder who Dr. Munro should be paired up with. There is always Elizabeth since Jason broke off their engagement. Maybe this newcomer can distract her from this torrid relationship and let her focus on another man for a while.

Of course, little Jake may not take too well with his mom being interested in another man. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Jake will be setting his sights on Sam to get her out of his daddy’s life and back into his mom’s. The boy obviously doesn’t like Sam, especially after hearing others gush about how great she is.
It will be fun and interesting to have another new handsome face in Port Charles and get to see how this character develops and interacts with the longtime vets of General Hospital.
Speaking of longtime vets, Jon Lindstrom, who plays Dr. Kevin Collins, is expected to make it back to the soap temporarily to help with little Jake. According to Soap Opera Spy, the psychiatrist will be counseling the boy after Elizabeth seeks his help. It sure looks like Jake needs all the help he can get after he spent all that time with Helena Cassadine. You just never know, maybe Dr. Griffin Munro can work his magic, as well.
