Adele’s Record Smashed By David Bowie, Sings Nicki Minaj With James Corden

Adele visited James Corden on The Late Late Show on Wednesday and the two of them had a lot of fun, particularly with carpool karaoke. Entertainment Weekly reports that the two belted out songs by Nicki Minaj and the Spice Girls. It turns out James Corden can really sing, and he can harmonize.

It also turns out that Adele was really inspired by the Spice Girls when she was younger.

“It was a huge moment in my life when they came out. It was girl power, and it was these five ordinary girls who did so well and got out. I was like, I want to get out. It was a really important period of my life.”

According to E! News, Adele also told Corden all about how she got drunk three nights in a row over the Christmas holidays. Apparently, Adele is exceptionally generous when she’s drunk. She bought dinner for a family in a restaurant because it was someone’s birthday.

“I went over, a bit drunk, and I said, ‘Did you call my name earlier?’ I was like, ‘Sorry. I had my security with me. Sorry. He’s being a bit protective or whatever.’ I went, ‘Did I hear it was your birthday? Let me get your meal for you!’ So, I paid for their meal. And then I had another glass of wine. Then my friend arrived and I had two more glasses of wine. Bear in mind that I haven’t really had a drink in, like, eight months.”

As for covering Nicki Minaj during her drive around with Corden, NME reports that Adele did some good rapping. Apparently, Minaj was impressed.

Adele also revealed to Corden that she is planning to launch her own clothing line for mothers who are busy, but want to remain stylish. NME reports that a source recently told Now Magazine it’s in the works.

“It’s still in the early stages, but she’s been getting input from several designers and working on her own sketches.”

Adele is obviously well off enough to buy dinner for a family in a restaurant, considering her new album, 25, sold 2.5 million copies in North America within three days of its release. Adele’s album has also brought her out ahead of Madonna in terms of combined time at the top of the U.K. charts. Billboard reports that 25 sat at the top of the U.K. charts for seven consecutive weeks, giving Adele a total of 31 weeks at the top of the U.K. charts across all her releases, which is the new female record. The record was previously held by Madonna at 30 weeks.

However, at the present time Adele can’t hold a candle to David Bowie, perhaps rightly so. With Bowie’s death just two days after the release of his new album, Blackstar, he has posthumously set a new record for number of Vevo views in one day.

Billboard reports that on January 11, the day after Bowie’s death, he received 51 million Vevo views in one day, smashing Adele’s record of 36 million views in a day. Somehow, it’s doubtful Adele minds Bowie getting all the attention, considering the circumstances.

With all of this fun with James Corden going on, plus a North American tour and a clothing line in the works for this year, Adele is one busy lady. But she also knows how to kick back and have fun. Kudos to Adele for keeping it real and being so generous to the people around her. Hopefully, 2016 will rock your world.
