Khloé Kardashian On Breast Cancer Test: ‘We’re All Going To Die’

Khloé Kardashian had what some fans have deemed a troubling conversation with her mom, Kris Jenner, on a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians when Kris broached the topic of a breast cancer test.

The test, which looks at the BRCA gene to determine if a woman is predetermined for breast and other cancers, was brought into the spotlight last year when Angelina Jolie announced she had undergone a double mastectomy after testing showed she had a very good chance of developing the disease. The procedure was preventative, and the actress said she also took into account the fact that she has lost family members to cancer, including her mother.

When Kris Jenner began talking to Khloé about having the test done, Khloé insisted she “doesn’t care” about it and doesn’t want to know if there is something in her body that could potentially kill her.

“I don’t want to, is the point. I don’t really care,” Khloé said.

“It’s unacceptable for you to have this technology at your fingertips, and not go out and utilize that. It might save your life one day,” Kris counters.

“I don’t care. Fact: I’m going to die. You’re going to die. We’re all going to die.”

While Angelina Jolie tested at about an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime, many women will show a small chance per million for developing a disease linked to cancer.

“I’ve seen people panic because the testing showed instead of having a one in five million chance of getting some disease, they have a one in a million chance. But really, does it matter?” says Art Caplan of New York University.

Khloé has undergone a lot of changes lately — physically, emotionally, and mentally — since dealing with her split from husband Lamar Odom and his subsequent overdose in a Nevada brothel. She had her own bout of illness, as well, and during a recent appearance on Live With Kelly And Michael she talked about why she’s been so adamant about making changes for herself. The reality star debuted a new short haircut and her striking weight loss, which was showcased in a tight red dress. Khloé says she’s dropped about 40 pounds over the course of three years, due mostly to a change in the way she lives.

“I always have healthy items available to me when I’m hungry, so it’s available quickly. I’d rather eat a cookie than cut up vegetables, but now I don’t have an excuse,” she told People recently when sharing her success tips. “I always have fruit around. And I have a protein shake on the car ride home from the gym. Otherwise I get cranky! Water flushes you out and makes you feel better. In the hospital, all I drank was water. I was like a fish!”

Fans who follow her on social media will know that she’s been posting photos from the gym quite a bit in recent months as she transforms her body.

“I cut all of my hair off because I was in the hospital and I just felt like I needed … like once I got out of there for a minute, I was like I need to get rid of this negativity. You shouldn’t do haircuts when you’re that emotionally confused but I did, and I love it, though! It’s so much easier,” Khloé said.

Kardashian is branching out from the reality business to host her own talk show, Kocktails With Khloé, which debuts on January 20 on FYI. Khloé has been promoting the new project on talk shows and on social media, getting her fans excited for the premiere.
