‘Fallout 4’ DLC Release Date Set For 2016: News Update Says Xbox One, PS4 Season Pass Will Be ‘What People Like’

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has many speculating when the Fallout 4 DLC release date will be set. Speculations are running rampant on the content planned for the Fallout 4 Season Pass, but so far there have only been tantalizing hints provided by intrepid gamers willing to plunge the literal depths of the game world. As for what has been officially announced, the game developer has admitted they did not have specific plans for the Fallout 4 DLC update. Instead, they plan on monitoring what people seem to like, and they will developer the new content based upon this premise.

One of the first official posts from Bethesda about the Fallout 4 DLC release date point blank said they were not 100 percent certain what the Fallout 4 Season Pass will contain.

“We’ve always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30. Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.”

Fortunately, they have kept their promise of regularly updating the game, with the recent Fallout 4 beta patch providing a ton of fixes. Some of the new features were for PC gamers only (graphics effects and a new weapon debris effect for Nvidia video card users), but other update transcended all platforms, including the Fallout 4 PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Todd Howard also promised that the huge game will be expanded greatly. You would hope so considering the normal retail cost of the game is about $60, and they’re promising $40 worth of content.

“We’re doing it. We have a bunch coming next year. This game is huge, but it’s not just this launch. It’s going to be well deep into next year. It’s like the game is done, but it’s not done because until everybody plays it, it’s not really done.”

We also know there will not be any Xbox One or PS4 Fallout 4 DLC exclusives based upon a tweet from Pete Hines, Bethesda’s VP of PR.

Howard also gave a little more info on plans for the content, but all he said was that user feedback from fans would be taken into account.

“What they bring to it is important, and then we’re going to see what people like, what they want more of, what they want different, and then we’re going to do that.”

But gamer Lavonicus believes at least one part of the Fallout 4 DLC update will include an underwater section, especially since one PC modder found out that the game already has a hidden harpoon gun. He’s already spent a good amount of time exploring what’s already in the current game, and it seems like too much content to have been just thrown into the ocean by accident.

“To Bethesda: You do not fool me. In the past for Fallout 4 you have shown concept art of underwater content and through mods we have found out there is a Harpoon gun that was suppose to be in the game. It may not be in the game currently, but I know we’ll have underwater content eventually in DLC. When that time comes, I’ll spend my time combing through the water content of the DLC until I find it.”

After Lavonicus spent 30 hours combing the ocean floor he can report that there are various locked items, but there’s no special items, new Easter eggs, or an underwater vault. Presuming the DLC does expand on the underwater section, it would make sense to add such a vault, but so far Bethesda has been silent on the issue.

Otherwise, fans speculate that the first Fallout 4 DLC release date will be set for March at the earliest. Bethesda has already promised multiple DLC with the Fallout 4 Season Pass, so it would make sense to release them quarterly throughout 2016.
