‘Supernatural’ Spoilers: Can Sam And Dean Survive A Ratings Apocalypse?
Supernatural has been on the air for 11 years and counting. Not too shabby for a fictional series about monster hunting. That actually beats out The X-Files, even if you count the new revival season. The President of the CW network must be a fan of Supernatural, because even he is reluctant to predict an end to the series.
Aside from predicting real life doom for Sam and Dean Winchester, there seems to be on screen danger headed for the characters potrayed by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) may be the only one capable of sparing mankind from Amara (Emily Swallow), but he may also prove just as threatening in his own way.

You really have to have a good laugh at Sammy (Padalecki) and the way he keeps falling for these traps. When will he learn to listen to his older brother? Really. Well, it is what it is. Sam managed to get himself trapped in the cage with Lucifer and now, as Supernatural fans predicted weeks ago, Dean (Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) have to take time out from saving the world as we know it to rescue Sam from the cage.
Will Dean, Sam, and Castiel be able to work together to put everything right and still defeat Amara. It seems like a tall order, but as Supernatural fans know, there’s little these three can’t accomplish, when they put aside their differences and really work together.

We know they must figure it out, because, later in the season, some old favorites will be returning to Supernatural to help the Winchester brothers out on a case. If you guessed that Jim Beaver and Steven Williams will be reprising their roles as Uncle Bobby Singer and Rufus, you are correct! The lovably grumpy pair will return for a single episode and, although details are scarce, it’s surmised that they will be seen in flashbacks. The general idea is that Sam and Dean will find themselves working a case once investigated by Bobby and Rufus years ago and viewers will be given the perspectives of both investigations, but, unfortunately, the Winchesters will never meet up with Uncle Bobby in person.
The President Of The CW Network On The Longevity Of Supernatural
Do you remember the WB network? If you’re old enough to recall that, you also remember that Supernatural debuted on the WB in 2005. Sadly, the series doesn’t bring in the ratings that it once did, though the tales of Sam and Dean Winchester do cater to a loyal fanbase. The CW president, Mark Pedowitz, was asked about Supernatural‘s future at the TCA Winter Press Tour.
“If they can keep delivering stories, and the numbers keep holding, and the guys want to do it, we’re going to try to keep going. I can’t tell you if there will be a Season 12 yet. I can’t tell you if there will be a Season 15 yet. I can’t tell you if it won’t outlast my tenure at the CW. My guess is it will outlast me.”
This is certainly good news for the Supernatural fans following the series faithfully each week. By this point in the show’s run, the audience tuning in each week has been weeded down to the truly loyal fans and maybe a few newcomers curious to see what it’s all about.
These people aren’t just Supernatural fans. They’re family in the truest sense of the word. When it was found out Jared Padalecki was suffering from bouts of severe depression, the next convention wasn’t business as usual. Instead, the entire crowd held a candlelight vigil for Jarad, humbling the actor with their love and support for him.
Someone once said this and it rings true for those that know.
“Family don’t end with blood.”
