AMC is starting to rev up its promotion of the second half of Season 6 of The Walking Dead with the release of a new promotional poster.

The new poster has plenty of images to get Walking Dead fans speculating over what might go down in the remainder of Season 6. While we already know the infamous Negan will make his appearance at the very end of Season 6, it seems there is plenty else going on before his arrival. Let’s break the poster down and have a look at what it could all mean.

While there are many images in the new key art for Season 6 of The Walking Dead, it seems to be grouped into three main images as per the original release by AMC.

The top third of the new Walking Dead poster exclaims it will be “a larger world” in the second half of Season 6. Three images show a cross or rosary, a plume of dark smoke and a hand wearing a wedding band.

The first image of the cross makes one first think of Father Gabriel (played by Seth Gilliam). In the first half of Season 6 of The Walking Dead there was definitely conflict with this character and his beliefs. Could Father Gabriel have to re-evaluate his beliefs in the return of The Walking Dead? The fact this image is paired up with what could be Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) hand would certainly indicate a conflict of beliefs expanding beyond the grievance already held between Gabriel and Rick. Will the pair come to loggerheads perhaps in the second half of Season 6?

Something interesting to note in the final image of the hand is the fact there is a marbling effect that appears similar to walker skin. Could AMC be indicating someone married is going to be turned in the final half of Season 6?

Or do the images portray a more general outlook for Season 6? Could the images and tagline indicate that the group as a whole will have to change their outlook on the zombie apocalypse because of the people they meet in the remainder of season 6? People such as Negan?

Another possibility in regards to the cross could be the introduction of new a new character who goes by the name of Jesus in Season 6.

The second group of images brings us back to previous seasons of The Walking Dead – albeit with a bit of a twist.

The first image shows Morgan (Lennie James) riding a horse, much like Rick did in the first season of The Walking Dead. He appears to be in a built up area and is possibly patrolling judging by his stance. The second image shows a reception tower, another image, like the middle image in the first group that appears to be unconnected with the first and last image. Although the image does make one think of communication and how Rick and Morgan once used to try and keep in touch with each other via walkie talkies thanks to the image of Morgan being next to it. The final image shows an RV which makes Walking Dead fans automatically think of Dale’s van in Season 2 of The Walking Dead. However, in the first half of Season 6 we also got to see a new RV in action so perhaps AMC are reminding us of this RV.

Could these images perhaps suggest that things that happened in previous seasons of The Walking Dead could help mold the way Season 6 ends?

All three images seem to indicate communication or travel as well, whereas the first block of images dealt more with a personal journey for the Walking Dead characters. Will the overall arc of Season 6 deal with Rick’s group having to broaden their horizons? Knowing about Negan’s arrival, Walking Dead fans will be anxious with the group potentially stretching out beyond the walls of Alexandria.

The final Walking Dead image just shows Rick Grimes next to a blurred image. Is he holding up a gun or is someone pointing a gun at him perhaps? Or is the blurred image something different entirely? Only tuning into the second half of season 6 of The Walking Dead next month will tell.

E! Online has also published another image that shows additional images in this new poster. You can view this image here. The extra images show walkers being led by a chain and a pair of bloody human hands clasped together – Glenn and Maggie perhaps? Could this perhaps suggest their relationship could meet the same fate as in the comic book series The Walking Dead is based on?
