One Direction Isn’t Breaking Up, Nothing Has Changed
Calm your fears and dry your eyes, the rumors of a One Direction permanent break up are false, despite what you may have heard.
A source close to the band told the USA Today there was no truth to the claim that the band One Direction intends to make its hiatus permanent, as some media outlets have reported.
That’s right Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will return after their much needed break and have no plans to split permanently, Horan told London’s Evening Standard.
“We’re not breaking up. We’re literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we’ve done over the last few years.”
Us Weekly was one of the first to report the band’s hiatus had become permanent with an article Wednesday morning entitled “One Direction Is Splitting.”
Their proclamation sent shivers through the teenage Internet community and Twitter was soon filled with “Oh No” tweets, crying eyes and declarations of loyalty.
The announcement, however, appears to be a little premature as sources close to 1D told Billboard the four remaining band members had no plans to split up.
“Nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members’ own mouths.”
There has also been no official announcement from the One Direction website like there was when Zayn Malik left the group in March 2015 leading entertainment media experts to believe the band isn’t breaking up.

When Malik left, the group clearly announced it with a statement on their website and Facebook page, which they have not done this time, according to the USA Today.
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.”
The decision came seemingly out of nowhere and paralyzed fans who were eagerly anticipating a new album.

Then, the remaining members of One Direction announced their plans to take an extended break last summer after the release of their new album Made in the A.M. At the time, Styles told the USA Today the four remaining members would be getting back together when the break was over.
“All we said is that we’ve been touring and making an album every year for five years, and that we’re just not going to do that next year. It’d be naïve to expect people to not read into it, but we’re really focused on the album coming out.”
A recent tweet by Horan seemed to confirm that plans for a reunion after the extended break were still in place.
Hey guys just to let ya know , I'm still here don't worry. Just keeping my head down and enjoying the break , hope you understand . Love you

During the break, the band will be animated and appear on an upcoming episode of Family Guy, according to Entertainment Weekly. All four band members will appear on the show, but only the voices of Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson will be heard.
The British-Irish boy band One Direction got its start on the U.K.’s The X Factor in 2010 and went on to sign with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records. Since then they’ve had four tours, five albums and gained 133 million Twitter followers along with numerous awards. Last year Forbes listed the group’s earnings at $130 million making them the fourth highest paid celebrities in the world.
