Lamar Odom Update: Former NBA Star Won’t Be Charged With Cocaine Possession, Khloe Kardashian Divorce Moving Forward?

Lamar Odom will not be charged with possession of cocaine stemming from his drug overdose in October of last year. Although there had been previous reports claiming the former NBA star could face charges due to his illegal activities at a brothel in Pahrump, Nevada, a spokesperson for the Nye County District Attorney told E! News on Monday that he would not be charged.

Although “evidence showed Mr. Odom had metabolized cocaine in his system while he was present in Nye County in October of 2015, he was not found in the possession of cocaine, and it is unlikely it could establish beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug during the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County.”

Lamar Odom suffered a drug overdose on October 13, 2015, after partying at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch for a few days. After being found unconscious with mucus running out of his nose and mouth by two staff members, Lamar Odom was taken to a nearby hospital. He was said to be in a coma, and he remained hospitalized there for a few days. Once he awoke, Lamar Odom, with wife Khloe Kardashian at his side, was transferred from Las Vegas’ Sunrise Hospital to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles via medical helicopter.

In addition to Kardashian, Lamar Odom received tons of support from his family in the days that followed his hospitalization. Also showing their support were Lamar Odom’s children, Lamar Odom Jr. and Destiny Odom, their mother, Liza Morales, whom Lamar Odom dated for about 10 years before marrying Kardashian, and a number of his former teammates, including Kobe Bryant.

While Lamar Odom still has a long way to go before making a full recovery, his family is staying positive.

“[Lamar Odom] continues to make remarkable strides and we are asking that you continue to respect our privacy,” JaNean Mercer, Lama Odom’s maternal aunt, said in a statement to Us Weekly last week. “Again we thank all of you greatly, your support has been paramount in helping to uplift us during these past few difficult months.”

After being transferred to Los Angeles in late October of last year, Lamar Odom remained at the facility until he was able to walk with a walker and began to speak more clearly. Once he made those major strides in his recovery, Lamar Odom was transferred to a live-in rehabilitation facility nearby Kardashian’s home in Los Angeles.

On recent episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Lamar Odom has been mentioned, but because the scenes were filmed for Season 11 in the weeks leading up to his hospitalization, his health crisis has not yet been featured. Instead, Kardashian and her family have spoken about the couple’s impending divorce.

In December 2013, after months of rumors regarding Lamar Odom’s alleged drug use and infidelities, Kardashian filed for divorce. However, rather than finalize the documents quickly, the couple dragged their feet, and even two years later, their split had yet to be finalized when Lamar Odom fell ill, leaving wife Kardashian in charge of many of his medical decisions.

While Lamar Odom’s divorce from Kardashian was still a work in progress months ago, he and Kardashian signed papers to have the petition thrown out shortly after he was hospitalized. Still, once Lamar Odom recovers, they are planning to part ways once and for all.
