Princess Diana Biopic Earns New Title

Just like Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997, the media has been in a buzz, and this time it’s about the biopic after pictures leaked on the Internet of Naomi Watt’s eerie resemblance on the set of the Princess Diana biopic. Well now, we have a name for the biopic that sees Watt’s as the late Princess.

The film is simply titled Diana after being switched from the title Caught in Flight. The film, which is currently in production and being directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel started creating buzz at Cannes when the director touted around the original title, in hopes to get investors excited.

Diana is said to be more of a love story, rather than her demise. The film reveals Princess Diana’s close and empowering relationship to a heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan. Currently the film is shooting its nine-week long shoot in locations such as Croatia, Mozambique and in London.

The film is said to be produced by a U.K. production company called Ecosse films, and alongside Naomi Watts is Naveen Andrews, Douglas Hodge and Juliet Stevenson. When Watts was asked about the role she said, it is “an honor to be able to play this iconic role. Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.”

Do you think Watts was the right choice to play Princess Diana? Do you think this film will capture her essence or will just add fuel to the fire surrounding her private life?
