Madonna: Sean Penn Love Affair Denied As Singer Receives Fantastic Reviews For San Antonio ‘Rebel Heart Tour’ Concert

Madonna appeared at Sean Penn’s Help Haiti Home charity event Saturday night. She sang a beautiful version of “La Vie En Rose” before telling Sean Penn that she loves him. This caused tabloid websites, such as RadarOnline, to announce that the 1980s couple are officially back together.

“As Radar reported back in October, decades after their 1989 divorce, Madonna and Sean Penn have rekindled their relationship. Now, the pair is ready to bring their romance out of the shadows. On Jan. 9, they were photographed holding hands at Penn’s Annual Help Haiti Home Gala — but Madonna’s son Rocco Ritchie is reportedly less than thrilled about their reunion.”

It appears that, once again, RadarOnline completely created a story out of thin air. Gossip Cop put the breaks on the Madonna and Sean Penn romance rumor.

“But where there’s smoke, there isn’t always fire, and in this case Gossip Cop can exclusively report that Madonna and Penn are not dating again. As the singer has said before, they are simply good friends after all these years.”

Gossip Cop adds that a source close to Madonna (perhaps her publicist) confirms that the talk of the two rekindling their romance is false and that the level of story invention is getting ridiculous. They didn’t say anything about Sean Penn being the reason Rocco Richie left home, but that is most likely just as false.

Madonna was probably laughing about the rumors as she took the stage an hour late at 10:30 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday night. Madonna isn’t known for being punctual, but she is known for thrilling her concert audiences. The reviews for her show in San Antonio, like reviews for previous shows, have been fantastic. Gabriela Mata from the San Antonio Current said Madonna’s show was one of the best she has ever seen.

“For her first time playing San Antonio, Madonna sure made up for the nearly three decades of her career of avoiding the Alamo City. With countless costume changes and no real holding back this has been one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. But what else do you expect when it’s Madonna, b***es?”

Hector Saldana of MySanAntonio was also impressed.

“At 57, Madonna remains a goddess of pop for the ages – talented, intelligent, imaginative and determined not to stagnate. The rebel heart beats strong,” Mr. Saldana claimed.

The review was especially impressed with Madonna’s self-parody performance of “Like a Virgin,” a part of the show that seems to be a favorite among both fans and critics. During the performance, Madonna sashays around the stage, just like she did in 1984, and makes fun of herself by letting a fan blow her hair before carelessly humping the stage.

According to Pollstar, Madonna made $88.4 million from just 37 shows in 2015. Every show Madonna has performed so far had a 100 percent attendance capacity. Madonna may not sell as many albums as she used to (nobody sells a lot of albums — unless your name is Adele), but she does well where it really counts these days — the box office.

Madonna will perform in Houston on Tuesday evening before moving to Tulsa on Thursday. She will end her tour in Australia this March. There were rumors that Madonna would extend her tour into the summer, but her current custody battle with her son Rocco may not allow this.
