Patrick Leahy Lands Another Batman Cameo

It looks like U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy is set to make another Batman cameo, this time in the hotly anticipated third installment, The Dark Knight Rises.

The self-proclaimed Batman fanatic was asked to return again for the third movie in the trilogy, and Leahy graciously accepted. We don’t know a whole lot about the scene that Leahy will make his cameo appearance in, but the senator’s rep did say, according to the Associated Press, that it’s a scene starring Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman.

As you may recall if you’ve watched the movie dozens of times like myself, Senator Leahy had a brief cameo appearance in 2008’s The Dark Knight during the Joker’s raid on a party. He even had a line, too: “We’re not intimidated by you thugs.”

That wasn’t the first time Leahy made an appearance in a Batman movie, either. Back in 1997, he had a non-speaking role in Batman and Robin. If you had managed to forget that movie exists, consider yourself fortunate.

The first public showing of The Dark Knight Rises will take place on July 15, in Leahy’s home state of Vermont, a full five days ahead of its July 20 release date. Proceeds from the event will go to Montpelier’s Kellogg Hubbard Library, and a Burlington environmental education center named for Leahy.
