Lamar Odom Secretly Moves To Rehab In ‘Miraculous Recovery’: Khloe Kardashian Details Overdose & Stroke Impact

Since Lamar Odom was discovered unconscious in a brothel in Nevada in October, he has remained hospitalized, with his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian supporting him in her role as his medical adviser. His health crisis resulted from drugs, which physicians detected in his system, and strokes. Since then, Lamar has struggled to recover, with problems ranging from difficulty walking on his own to communicating to memory loss, as the Inquisitr reported.

And although Khloe sought to focus on his improvement rather than the discouraging signs of continued problems, Kardashian revealed recently that the road to recovery remains lengthy for Odom, reported Today.

“[Lamar is] doing better every day,” emphasized Khloe, adding that it is “going to be a long road [to full recovery].”

But a major step on that road has now been achieved as Lamar has been moved from the hospital in Los Angeles where he has remained for months to a live-in rehab facility. The news came in a statement from his family’s publicist.

“It is with extreme gratitude and appreciation to all of you around the world who have prayed without ceasing for Lamar, that we announce his transition to the next stage of his miraculous recovery at a new facility,” stated Alvina Alston, publicist for Odom’s aunt JaNean Mercer. “Lamar continues to make remarkable strides.”

Although no details were offered on how Odom is doing, the family previously described his health status after he was moved from Nevada to the Los Angeles hospital where he remained until the new move to the facility. Noting that the 36-year-old former NBA player was involved in an “aggressive” treatment plan for his recovery, they offered hope that he was regaining his mental and physical health at that time.

Talking recently about her estranged husband’s health with ET, Khloe expressed her pride in the strength that Lamar has shown.

“He’s definitely doing better and better every day which I’m so grateful for,” said Kardashian. “And I can attest that the hospital has been superb with keeping his privacy but also his will and fight to want to get better… The great thing about Lamar is — and I think because of his athleticism and everything — he has that strength and endurance and so he’s fighting really hard and I’m really proud of him for that fight and his will to want to get better.”

Khloe is the one who secretly moved Odom to the new facility from Cedars-Sinai hospital, reported USA Today.

Also located in Los Angeles, it is a specialized rehab clinic where Lamar will continue to recover after the medical crisis linked to the overuse of sexual performance enhancement substances combined with cocaine in October at the brothel. While he was at Cedars-Sinai, Odom stayed primarily in the area for those who are celebrities, which maintains a high level of security.

As for precisely what happened that is causing the continued damage to Lamar’s body, two factors have impacted Odom, a source told E! News.

The first factor is a drug overdose, said that source, while the second factor is the loss of oxygen. The latter resulted when a blood clot blocked the blood flowing to his brain, which caused an “ischemic stroke.”

Khloe was candid about how she felt when she first learned what had happened to Odom and learned that as his legal wife, she would be making his life or death medical decisions as he lay unconscious.

“It’s a horrible call to get,” recalled Kardashian. “Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests or make medical decisions. It’s terrifying.”

As to whether he can ever fully recover, Khloe also was honest.

“He is learning how to walk again and learning…cognitive therapy and speech therapy. They think, like, within a year and a half to two years that, mentally, he might be fully recovered. But they don’t know.”

Kardashian made the decision to move Lamar secretly without even telling his family because she wanted to steer clear of publicity, according to Us Weekly.

The private facility is near Khloe’s house, and it has been arranged as a rehab. And in some ways, it’s a miracle that he has progressed this far.

“They told me that he had four hours,” recalled Kardashian of the initial prognosis after his overdose.
