Melissa McCarthy Wows Viewers As She Flaunts Dramatic Weight Loss At People’s Choice Awards
Melissa McCarthy wowed viewers at this year’s People’s Choice Awards as the 45-year-old actress/comedienne showed off her remarkable weight loss on stage. McCarthy flaunted her slimmed-down figure in black sequin pants and a bell-sleeve, tunic-style blush blouse. As reported by People magazine, Melissa was the first star to accept an award after she was voted Favorite Comedic TV Actress.
“Holy smokes!” she exclaimed to the audience. “Thank you so much! I considered taking my pants off just in solidarity, but I thought better of it. I respect you enough to keep my pants on.”
The Mike & Molly star, who also won Favorite Comedic Movie Actress, also thanked the crowd for supporting her over the years.
“Every time you buy a ticket, every time you go to see a movie, every time you support it you allow me to live out a crazy dream,” she said. “I always feel like I should pinch myself because I can’t believe that I can do it.”
According to Daily Mail, McCarthy has lost over 50 pounds in the past year and her dramatic transformation has been the talk of numerous media outlets. Many are surprised by her remarkable weight loss, and were interested to knowing her secrets to shedding pounds.

Although Melissa McCarthy gained notoriety for being simultaneously overweight and hilarious in many of her television and movie roles, she admitted that she was not happy with her weight and knew she had to make a change.
Last year, McCarthy was asked about her body transformation on CBS This Morning and the Spy star gave the following response to Gayle King’s question.
“I feel amazing and I finally said, ‘Oh, for God sakes, stop worrying about it’ and it may be the best thing I’ve ever done,” she explained. “I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, over-doing anything. I kinda went back to when I was pregnant and I just stopped constantly being worried about it and I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked. I could’ve figured that out before 44, but whatever.”

While Melissa gave little details as to what her workout regimen consisted of, she did say that the key to her weight loss was to stop stressing out. The mom-of-two also credited her new look to hours she spent at the gym for her role in the new comedy, Spy with Jude Law and Jason Statham, where she plays a CIA field agent. The 45-year-old actress told Live With Kelly & Michael that she had to put in some hard hours at the gym for her role.
During an appearance on a recent episode of Live With Kelly & Michael, she revealed that she worked with a martial arts pro to perform stunts and her workouts reportedly included consulting a personal trainer, who taught her how to move her body in a way that would make the stunts easier.
“I studied martial arts for two months,” McCarthy told the hosts. “Turns out I like doing stunts.”
Meanwhile, McCarthy recently took to Twitter to express her sadness over the cancellation of Mike and Molly, one of CBS’ longest-running sitcoms.
I was shocked and heartbroken when @CBS canceled #MikeAndMolly. I would have shot this show for 50 more years. I'll miss my 2nd family.
