Jennifer Lawrence Promises Her New Film With BFF Amy Schumer Will Not Be ‘Politically Correct’

Fresh off her appearance in Joy, Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed her plans to star in a new movie with one of Hollywood’s funniest comedians, Amy Schumer. In an interview with Time, Lawrence explained how her best friend pitched the new movie idea to her, and promised fans the film will not be “politically correct.”

For starters, Lawrence admitted that Schumer’s latest movie, Trainwreck, inspired her to want to collaborate on a project with the comedian turned actress.

“I saw Trainwreck in July, and I emailed her. I just knew: ‘This b—h needs to write a movie for me,'” Lawrence stated in the interview. “I emailed her and was like, ‘Write something for us.’ I’ve never done anything like that before. The next day she wrote back with a story line, which is unheard of. And now it’s complete, and it’s good! But it’s definitely not a politically correct film.”

Lawrence and Schumer have not unveiled the title of their movie, but it will feature the two portraying sisters. In regard to other cast members, nothing official has been released. However, with Lawrence spending more and more time with Schumer, Adele and Emma Stone, there is a possibility that one of them will make it onto the movie.

Speaking of her new friends, Jennifer Lawrence invited them to spend Thanksgiving with her and Diane Sawyer. Apparently, things went so well that the foursome have continued to spend time together. For her part, Lawrence shared how much she enjoys their company and had nothing but praise for their friendship.

“It’s so weird; I don’t like new people. But these two women—and Amy—they’re really lovely. And they’re so normal. I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends—my friends that don’t give a f–k about what I do,” she told the outlet.

At the same time, Telegraph is reporting that Lawrence and Schumer have complete the first draft of the new film’s script. On collaborating with Schumer, Lawrence revealed that the entire process was extremely funny, which was important given the nature of the movie.

“It was hilarious. When you’re writing a comedy, it’s not good enough unless you’re laughing out loud,” she told BBC 6 Music. “I think we’ve got a pretty funny good movie.”

Lawrence went on to reveal that her character is a complete mess while Schumer’s has her life together and works as a flight attendant. If the movie is half as good as it sounds, then fans are definitely in for a treat when Lawrence and Schumer appear together on the big screen.

Meanwhile, Lawrence is currently coming off her appearance in Joy, in which she portrays the successful entrepreneur Joy Mangano, a real-life inventor who created the Miracle Mop and became a top seller on QVC.

While her movie is currently out in theaters, Lawrence recently took time away from her busy schedule and made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. According to Pop Sugar, Eddie Redmayne joined Lawrence for the interview, which proved to very revealing. In particular, the two discussed their mutual dislike for New Year’s celebrations and their worst experiences at award ceremonies.

True to her candid ways, Lawrence dished out details about the year she won her first Oscar and even admitted to sharing a behind-the-scenes kiss with Hunger Games‘ co-star Liam Hemsworth. For his part, Redmayne revealed a few funny stories involving his brothers and unintentionally made a dirty joke that Lawrence thankfully missed out on. (Watch a clip from the interview below.)

An official release date for Lawrence’s upcoming movie with Schumer has not been announced.
