Liam Payne And Louis Tomlinson: The Friendship That Will Hold One Direction Together

It was reported today that One Direction are going to appear on hit TV show Family Guy. Many were excited to hear that the four-piece would be appearing on the show, but it soon emerged that that is not quite true: only Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, described by Dan Wootton of the Sun as One Direction’s “only real friendship,” recorded voice bits for the show.

The details of the Family Guy plot have even be revealed. Apparently the One Direction Family Guy episode will see Stewie, the youngest member of the sitcom family, who has an intellect, vocabulary, and nasty streak that belie his young age, telling the One Direction boys a scary story.

It sounds like the writers and producers are going to poke a bit of fun at the One Direction guys’ fashion choices — the “scary story” is reportedly about “a pair of non-skinny jeans.”

Why did only Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson record voice parts? The Sun reported last year that all is not well in the One Direction family. The trouble reportedly started when Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson fell out years ago, then intensified when Zayn Malik left the group.

“The other four have hardly spoken to Zayn since he left. Louis won’t forgive him for leaving. Liam and Louis are the only real friends left in the band. Niall likes everyone as that’s part of his happy-go-lucky persona.”

This seemed to be confirmed today by Zayn Malik in the explosive interview he gave with Billboard magazine. Zayn revealed that he has not bought Made In The A.M. (the Bradford bad boy liked the first single from that One Direction album, “Drag Me Down” but was put off when he heard “Perfect,” for reasons he did not disclose — perhaps the light, carefree, romantic tone of the second single was not to Zayn’s taste, as he sought to branch out into edgier, hip-hop-influenced projects) and also revealed that the One Direction boys are not taking his calls.

“I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed, and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time.”

Zayn’s disloyalty was enough to make the boys cut him off. How did they react to rumors that Harry is receiving solo career advice from Irving Azoff?

The plot of that saga thickened just this week when Harry Styles was spotted on a yacht with Kendall Jenner and Irving Azoff. It seems the curly-haired crooner may have “signed something” as he lounged in the sunshine with Azoff, as reported by The Inquisitr.

With Harry and Louis reported to have fallen out as well, and Niall simply putting on a happy face because that’s his “persona,” some fear that the mighty LiLo bromance is the only thing holding the group together.

Louis has revealed that he’ll work with Liam to write songs over the hiatus, as reported by Billboard. MTV provides a list of the incredible tracks Louis and Liam have had a hand in penning, including “Diana,” “Little White Lies,” “Better Than Words,” “Steal My Girl” and “Little Black Dress” — some of the best songs in the One Direction songbook.

The Doncaster lad and the Wolverhampton hunk obviously make a great team.

According to Billboard:

“Harry Styles and Niall Horan may be doing their own thing, but Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne will still be together — at least a bit — during One Direction‘s upcoming hiatus.

In a new interview, Tomlinson assured fans that during the break he and Payne — two of the more prolific writers of the band — would continue to write music together.”

Late in 2015 a video emerged of Louis and Liam having a beery songwriting session with some of their band. The video was shared by songwriter Julian Bunetta, who penned “Hey Angel” from the Made In The A.M album. We get a sneak peek into a One Direction songwriting session, as the band play a faintly Reggaeton-sounding jam called “Hideaway” and Louis and Liam bicker over whether Liam should sing “Hideaway” once or twice.

Harry Styles previously revealed that the members of One Direction all have “different people we go off with to write music.” The suggestion there was that the guys may disperse, but they will all come back together again.

With Louis and Liam’s collaboration forming a strong foundation for the continuation of the group, it is hoped that the boys will settle into a new songwriting and performing arrangement that works for all. Fans also hope that the claims of the gossipy Sun are exaggerated, and perhaps the lads have not drifted apart as much as is rumored.
