‘Daredevil’ Season Two Release Date And Trailer Revealed — Can You Spot The Easter Egg?

Netflix has earned a reputation for hosting some of the best original television content in recent history, and one of their most critically-praised shows is the Marvel series Daredevil. Fans have been patiently anticipating a second season since the first one wowed audiences across the world. As of today, Netflix has announced the official release date for Daredevil season 2, along with a dark and tantalizing teaser trailer, which you can watch above.

The trailer covers much of the backstory from the first season of Daredevil to catch anyone who missed it up to speed. This includes the origin of Daredevil’s powers and blindness, how he works as a “lawyer by day, vigilante by night” and the rise of the first season’s villain, Wilson Fisk. Unfortunately, there are almost no hints about the plot of the second season of Daredevil. However, it appears that fans will be treated to more of the same ominous tone while Daredevil does his best to make his city “a better place.”

The first season of Daredevil featured a lot of religious imagery, as Daredevil himself was raised Catholic. The trailer expands on that theme, showing a host of images from the show as if they’re painted on a chapel ceiling. The final shot of the video zooms out to show a mural of all of Daredevil’s major characters while audio of the hero plays.

“Father, why do I still feel guilty?” Daredevil asks.

“Guilt can be a good thing,” the priest responds. “It’s a soul’s call to action. The indication that your work is not yet finished.”

The trailer ends with the windows of the church exploding, a tiny taste of the action that will return to Daredevil.

But, most importantly perhaps, the trailer shares the official release date for when Daredevil season 2 will be released on Netflix: March 18, 2016. Not a long wait for die-hard Daredevil fans.

But among all of the chilling voice-over and spooky images, there’s an easter egg in the Daredevil trailer that you can easily miss, even after watching the video many times. The keen eye of one YouTube user pointed out the hidden secret in the comments section.

“Love the ominous Punisher skull in the background.”

Indeed, if you look closely at the final shot of the trailer or the Daredevil poster above, you can see the symbol of the Marvel character the Punisher, barely formed in the gray and black background of the Daredevil mural. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Punisher will indeed be joining the cast of Daredevil in the second season, as well as the superhero Elektra.

If you are interested in learning more details about the plot of Daredevil season 2, Comic Book has shared a brief synopsis of the new episodes to come.

“Just when Matt [Daredevil] thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.

Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.”

Will you be catching Daredevil season 2 when it comes to Netflix on March 18? What did you think of the first season of Daredevil?
