Janet Jackson Speaks Out Against Throat Cancer Rumors

Janet Jackson is a naturally private person, as she doesn’t usually engage in any rumors surrounding her life or her family, but one of the rumors was so serious that Jackson just had to address it.

According to Radar Online, the reason behind Jackson’s tour cancellation was due to a throat cancer scare. The original report said that Jackson was in the middle of a “terrifying cancer crisis.”

While Jackson did reveal that she needed surgery, she didn’t open up about what the surgery entailed or what it was for. Naturally, rumors ran rampant, but according to Radar Online, a doctor had allegedly found a tumor on her vocal chords.

The report even went further to say that her parents were currently mourning in the wake of the so-called cancer scare. A “source” said, “Katherine and Joe are taking this very hard because they are really afraid of losing another child. She has been very brave, trying to hide her own fear from her parents. But I heard that she absolutely broke down with her husband Wissam when her parents were not around.”

In a statement, Jackson said to her beloved fans, some whom were looking forward to seeing her on tour.

“It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring. Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time…There will be no further comment.”

What’s the deal? Well, according to the “Velvet Rope” singer’s rep, this was not the case at all. A tweet was sent out via her public account that read as follows.

“It was Janet’s wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly. -Janet’s Team.”

Then, Janet released a recorded video via her Twitter account titled, “from my lips.” The message did come directly from the singer but it had a bit of a twist. Instead of appearing in the video to give an official statement about her health, she released a clip from her song, “The Great Forever.”

Here’s what she chose to highlight in the song in the wake of the cancer rumors.

“Not too pleased with what you’re diggin’/ I’m just busy livin’ my life/ Sources say but where ya gettin’ it / Don’t create the truth you like / It might sound strange to you / What you think it don’t mean nothing at all / Doesn’t change who I am / Doesn’t change who I love / Living my life / The way that I hope / Is leading me to / The great forever / Forever I will choose / Watch what I’m doing / Watch where I’m going / Tryin’ to get to / The great forever / Forever is the truth/”

Later on the singer wrote the following message.

Initially, Billboard magazine reported that Jackson announced she was currently on vocal rest. In a tweet she wrote:

As the Inquisitr reported, even though these rumors might be false, Jackson still may have to worry about losing money as her music isn’t selling as originally expected. This was supposed to be a huge comeback for the singer, but her single “No Sleep” couldn’t even crack the top 10 on the Billboard charts. Instead, it was dead on arrival at No. 67. Other singles haven’t charted as well as expected, either. With the dip in music sales, it isn’t surprising to find out that her tour dates haven’t sold out either, and with the cancellation of her tour the singer could lose a ton of money.
