Lamar Odom Update: Discharged From Hospital, Relocating To Live-In Rehab Facility

Lamar Odom is set to be discharged from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, in the “next few days.”

Nearly three months after the former professional athlete suffered an overdose while partying at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, Lamar Odom will be moved to a live-in facility, where he will continue his recovery.

“The plan is for [Lamar Odom] to move in the next few days,” an insider told People Magazine on January 6. “At the center, [Lamar Odom] will continue to receive amazing therapy. He still has many challenges but is making progress. He is a fighter!”

According to the magazine’s report, 36-year-old Lamar Odom is unable to walk on his own, and is suffering from “cognitive impairment, speech problems and kidney damage.”

On October 13, 2015, Lamar Odom was found unconscious at the legal brothel, where he was said to have been for a few days prior. After being taken to the hospital, where he was proclaimed to be in a coma, Lamar Odom was suffering from organ failure, and his prognosis wasn’t good. Luckily, days later, with wife Khloe Kardashian and his two children, Lamar Odom Jr. and Destiny Odom, at his side, he woke up from his coma and began communicating with doctors.

After Lamar Odom was able to communicate, he was transferred from the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., where he’s been ever since.

Throughout his health crisis, Lamar Odom has had wife Kardashian by his side, supporting him all the way. She even traveled with him, via medical helicopter, when he was taken from Sin City to L.A. Meanwhile, Lamar Odom’s children haven’t been able to see their father nearly as much. Because the two teens are currently enrolled in school on the East Coast, they were only able to visit once since Lamar Odom’s hospital transfer.

Although Kardashian hasn’t yet spoken out about Lamar Odom’s upcoming move, she did recently reveal that her support would continue as Lamar Odom’s recovery rolled on.

“There is a very long road ahead of [Lamar Odom],” Kardashian told People Magazine. “He has to walk that road by himself, and, most importantly, he has to want to walk that road. I will be there supporting him every step of the way.”

Lamar Odom married Kardashian in September 2009, just 30 days after the pair was introduced to one another by Lamar Odom’s then-teammate, Ron Artest, at a party in Los Angeles. In the years that followed the wedding, Lamar Odom went on to star in Keeping Up With The Kardashians and its spinoff, Khloe & Lamar, which followed the couple in their home in California, and their rental in Dallas, where Lamar Odom briefly played for the Dallas Mavericks.

After their reality show’s second season came to an end, Lamar Odom and Kardashian enjoyed some time to themselves, but then, in mid-2013, their relationship came to an abrupt end when Lamar Odom was accused of drug use and cheating — with more than one woman.

After filing for divorce from Lamar Odom in December 2013, Kardashian kept in touch with her ex, who was seemingly spiraling out of control as time went on. While Kardashian moved on from the relationship with French Montana, and later, James Harden, she has continued to touch base with Lamar Odom, as fans have seen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
